playing devils' advocate NottsStokie, what did you think of the Adebayor chants. I find them far, far worse than those today? But it's football, it's tribal and that's why we love the sport. I've said and sang stuff in my 35 years I'm not proud of, but that doesn't make me the devil. And neither should it to those today. They'll be feeling a bit silly now they know the full extent of the injury, but it's hardly a war crime to cheer someone getting injured at football.
I'll repeat, I hope the lad fully recovers and our lad's card is rescinded.

I must admit, when I saw the Arsenal fans' reaction to Shawcross; trying to get on the pitch to get at him I was glad, and hoped it was Fabregas (didn't know who it was at the time)

Ill post what I put in the locked thread:
complete tosser who came down to the front of block 31 just to yell insults at Ramsey as he lay in very obvious agony on the floor in front of us, to call him a prick and tell him to get up even after it was loudly pointed out the kid had broken his leg, you sir are a complete and utter knob head who is a disgrace to the club. Well done to the steward in front of me who dispatched him back to his seat.

in fairness, for a lot of injuries some of these are sung. It's just what happens at football matches. Does it make it right? No, but this has gone on since I can remember and let's face it, some may find the whole ground singing about Adebayor's mates dying a little more serious than a broken leg. To say football fans should be banned for singing about an injury is ridiculous to be honest. Remember the old ambulance chants and ner-ners? We all wish Ramsay a speedy and full recovery. Let's hope that the lad is playing soon and so is Ryan, who shouldn't have been carded. agreed below the belt but harsh reality and no i d didnt join in but lets not forget it was the arsenal fans giving us shit and practically inciting riots that started it

to be honest, there are far more important things on my mind tonight than a few lads singing songs that some don't find funny:
1. sorry, but my main concern is us losing a hard-earned point. That might sound really harsh on Ramsey, but I'm a Stoke fan, I go to see us dow well. 2. Ramsey and Ryan. Gutted for them both in different ways. 3. without Ryan, Higgy and Abdoulaye at Chelsea. Yikes. 4. I got home and the missus was still there. Grrr.

to be honest Notts, I understand your anger, but if it had been the other way around I wouldn't have given a sh**. I'd be more concerned about our player.
Rightly or wrongly, below the belt chants are part of the match. I find the Adebayor song so much worse - ffs, that's about a blokes mates dying on a bus, three yards away from him
edit - sorry mate, just seen your post.
I just laugh at the rightreousness of folk who berate those who slag some Stokies off today, but were possibly joining in with the other 18000 Stoke fans singing about a blokes' teammamtes dying.

Singing or hearing offensive songs is part of the package, and while I didn't personally join in with those chants today, I can't say i found it particularly offensive either, not compared to some stuff you hear. Should everyone be banned for singing songs to SWP, John Terry and Wayne Bridge as well? All stuff based on peoples' misfortunes... I think other than racism and death, pretty much anything goes when it comes to football songs. I

correct Trousers, as stated earlier, I'm not going to be holier-than-thou on any chants as I've shouted personal stuff about players before.
I just think that it's part of football, and to be honest, close to the bone original chants are a major part of the matchday. Yes, a lone has to be drawn somewhere, but today and against Citeh was nowhere near that line.

they were doing it in the south stand FUCKING DISGRACEFUL im sorry stokies that is just awful, i sat in their and could not physically sing for the rest of the game you should be ashamed of yourselves I'm the same mate, was sat right next to the group who did it, unfortunantly I had a near clear view of the tackle and resulting leg break and was pretty much in shock, then people have the lack of humanity and compassion to sing somethnig like this when a young lad could face having his career and dreams ended playing the game we all love. I've not been as embarrased to be a Stoke fan as I was when I heard this.

I've come to realise it's football in general to be honest, it just brings out the very worst in too many people who in every other walk of life wouldn't dream of acting the way they do when thay enter a football stadium! Take for instance the pricks at chelsea who booed wayne bridge earlier? What's he done wrong. All these dicks who keep saying he should get over it! I'd like to see how they'd react had ''JT'' had their wives legs pinned behing her ears while he was balls deep???? Then we have dicks singing sick songs about the lad who's leg is fucked and little cunts giving him the wanker sign as he's been put into an ambulance??? We have cunts who sing sick songs at Man Utd fans about munich everytime we play them??? Liverpool fans sing songs at Man Utd yet imagine the reaction if everyone sang about Hilsboro? Then we have Arsenal fans on the radio saying Ryan did it deliberatlely??? We're going to hell in a fucking handcart, i'm getting sick of it. Well done to 99.9% of our fans though who have got grey matter and clapped the poor lad off. I won't be holding my breath for the french cunt to come out tomorrow and say his comments were in the heat of the moment! Wenger has got no class whatsoever

I'm in the middle of block 19 and I heard it - it was a load of ***** up at the back corner, same bunch of neanderthals that sang the Munich song at the ManUre game.
Makes me f*cking sick that I'm in the same block as them cos it's those f*ckwads that give block 19 a bad name. Everyone around me is sound, load of good lads to my left, family with kids to my right, old bloke and his son and friends in front and assorted good folk behind me including top tasty bird.
All the best to Aaron Ramsey and a speedy recovery. Good luck lad.
Finn.

This was the final straw for me I'm not renewing in the South Stand - I'd rather sit in the John Smiths!I never subscribed to the "we have a higher proportion of knuckle draggers than other clubs" school of thought until this season being in the South Stand. Nearly got into a fight with 4 or 5 dicks in front of me for taking them to task for singing this fortunately a policeman saw what was happening and intervened! yer cheeky cnut...we dont want thugs and hooligans migrating from there into the JS thank you very much. I'll be keeping a sharp eye out for you and put the stewards on high alert. No way are you coming in.

bottom liune is this:
the chants, what there were of them, were insensitive at worst and were thankfully downed out by mass applause.
But some folk get awful moral on this. I expect them never to tell or receive a sick joke; not to join in with any other insesitive chants (Merson/Adams - addiction; Cole/Bridge/Terry - lifestyle; Adebayor - mates dying etc); keep uunder 30mph etc.
Talk about mountain out of a molehill.
The bigest insensitive tw@s yesterday had a cannon on their tops. It should be Wenger, fabregas and all getting grief, not Stoke season ticket holders who sang an insensitive song which hurts noone really.
I'm more offended by the dozens of homophobic posts on here last night, but I don't get all slapped-arse about it.

It's happened before. When McaVennie broke his leg in 1989 the Boothen was roaring cheers. Then later that season a Leicester player was stretchered off to great cheers so much so that when the stretcher appeared the roar was sickeningly huge.
