"Stoke manager Tony Pulis could hand a debut to new signing Chris Riggott against Burnley as Leon Cort is struggling with an ankle injury. Goalkeeper Steve Simonsen has injured his pelvis and is rated as doubtful, so Carlo Nash could be on the bench."
The first bit makes sense, instead of Cort carrying on playing nursing his knock, but re Simmo, it surely should mean Nash could replace him instead of being on the bench?

Nash will obviously be playing, the question is who's going to be on the bench, are we recalling Hoult yet again??!!

i doubt we'll recall Hoult. Simmo should be OK on the bench to just come on if we need him surely. Lets just hope Nash has a better debut that Hoult did.

Simmo's 'injury' might be a smokescreen to hide the fact he is about to be dropped?
It seems strange that all of a sudden he is a doubt don't you think?! ???

Thought that knowles, all of a sudden the guy gets an injury? Long time since for simmo... but if Nasher comes in and commands his box, does a good job then so be it!

The murmurings did seem to suggest Nash would start, but Radio Stoke sports headlines make no mention of a doubt over Simo. McGarry's just said it'll be his 250th career appearance and said "Carlo Nash is expected to be on the bench"?

Martin Spinks seems to confirm Simo is not injured
4PM UPDATE: FANS SNAP UP CITY TICKETS Be the first reader to comment on this story
14:56 - 07 March 2008
Stoke have sold around 1,200 mini season tickets going into the last 24 hours of business for their latest cut-price offer.
And that should help swell tomorrow's attendance towards the 17,000-20,000 bracket for a fourth successive home game when Burnley roll into town.
The mini season ticket allows fans in the Boothen End, for instance, to purchase the last five home games for £90 instead of £100.
More significantly, however, fans purchasing them will have first shout on their seat for next season as Stoke go gunning for the Premier League.
The offer remains open until kick-off tomorrow.
Manager Tony Pulis has again urged fans to flock in numbers to the Britannia as City attempt to check a run of two successive defeats by stacking up what would be their sixth successive home win if they see off Burnley.
"If we can get 20,000 in for the last five league games," said Pulis, "we have a better chance of winning. Let's all of us give it our best shot possible."
Newcomers Carlo Nash and Chris Riggott stand by for possible debuts after today's final training session as Pulis ponders changes in goal and central defence.
Contrary to erroneous reports, goalkeeper Steve Simonsen is not suffering from any injury ahead of tomorrow's clash.

That truly is awful reporting from the national media. They have clearly just plucked it out of the sky as far as I am concerned

National media, otherwise known as the Press Association. God knows why they sent out that bit about Simmo, I'll ask them now and see what they say!

Just spoke to the guy responsible and he was told about Simmo's injury by the club. I trust him so I wonder what's gone on there....has someone said something they shouldn't have?

I think so too, particularly after Pulis has been praising Nash's good work on the training ground.
