Brett Ormerod from Preston has joined Forest till the end of the season, are they making way for Nugents return ?

Maybe but Ormerod was barely getting a game anyway.

It would be a kick in the teeth if he chose a team whose season is over. Preston wont go down with the squad they have, nor are they doing to finish anywhere else above mid table.
That said, he loves Preston a lot, obviously, still I'd hope he had a head on his shoulders. A chance to prove he is still good enough to play for England, in the Premiership and earn himself a Championship winners medal.

www.prestoncitizen.co.uk/display.var.2102099.0.0.php Looks like Irvine had promised Ormerod a loan move after he loaned Craig Beattie from West Brazil and has stuck to his word despite Beattie's injury. Redknapp was adamant he wouldn't let Nugent go back to Preston 6 months after paying them 6m for him. And I don't think they could afford him, could they?

They signed Beattie from West Brazil so maybe that pushed Ormerod even further away from the 1st team but wouldnt surprise me if Preston wanted him back.

Even if they found the cash for the loan fee and his exorbitant wages (and I think their manager expressed major doubts that they could find that kind of money when they were linked with him a few weeks ago), I'm sure Redknapp's pride won't let him go back there.
Maybe a major factor in any loan would be the carrot of a permanent deal if the loaning club got to the Prem, with the prospect of Arry getting a chunk of money back on a player he's given up on?

FM,
Even if they did find the money, why waste it when they aren't going to finish anwhere this season?

Couple of things..
Harry Redknapp as said it would be really stupid to loan Nugent out to preston after he paid a shed laod of money out for him in the summer... is words "that wouldn't be very clever would it"
Preston signed craig Beatie on loan from preston, which in turn pushed Ormerod further away from the first team, becasue of this. Irvine ahd told Ormerod he could go out on loan...Morombe been the favourites to capture is signature. Earlier this wee, Beatie picked up an injury which made ormerods move to Morcombe to be put on hold...

Yeah, they're still in the thick of it in the relegation battle, aren't they?
Maybe it's a gamble for Arry to let him out though.
If he does the business for us (or another C'ship team), his reputation will be partially rescued - but if he bombs, he'll be even less of a saleable asset ,at the kind of fee they'd want, come the summer?

Redknapp was adamant he wouldn't let Nugent go back to Preston 6 months after paying them 6m for him. And I don't think they could afford him, could they? The post script to that on the "£ side" apparently, is that PNE have only ever had a downpayment from portsmouth and a great big whack of the £6m is outstanding.
So on the one hand they would appear to not have enough money to entice him back (albeit they have also had an influx of cash on the board) but on the other; Pompey are still in their debt big time.
Depends on the terms of the deal obviously.
On the footie side - Harry is well known to have said over my dead body sunshine re a return.
Equally, Nugent was (is?) keen to return.
So...our decision / thinking needs to be along the lines of:
Nugent after two more weeks of this fannying about (and still arriving with fitness concerns?) or Healey (or Earnie) this afty?
No brainer for me, Nugent is a good player at CCC yes, and when fit could do a great job but...there seem a heck of a lot of "what if's" at a time we really need to press on.

Hodgson has apparently ruled out a Healy loan anywhere.
Earnie it is then ;D

Another reason Harry doesn't want to send him back is that Nugent is best mates with Sean St Ledger, and the Pompey chief is worried that if Nuge returned he would settle into his old ways and it would become too easy for him
Would be better for him to go to a 'new' club (for example, off the top of my head, Stoke?!) and try and prove a point to everyone!!

Is the delay in tying something up down to GENUINE concerns over his fitness as Coates seemed to suggest yesterday - and maybe to save a week's wages we'd have to pay for a bloke who wouldn't be able to figure tomorrow?
Just designed to save face with Ipswich and make Nugent look like he's messed them around less?
Or haggling over money?
Do we know, for example, if he'd be able to play any part at Norwich on Tuesday?
If not, it's a hell of a lot of money for EIGHT games especially when he'd need 2-3 of them to get up to speed?

Welcome to the world of high stakes gambling eh?
So many imponderables eh Peter?
But you're they guy that will end up with the pot of gold.
One thing is for sure though, a decent signing today would be invaluable in terms of a morale boost. And an immediate impact tomorrow and subsequently would be priceless.
Got to be someone of that calibre though?
(Who was the "Premiership striker" we were on to recently then if not Nugent by the way?)
So over to you (if it rests with you) PC & TP.

I posted the same thing on an earlier thread fullermagic.
with the squad leaving for Norwich at the latest monday morning - it's doubtful nugent would be in time to tie up with them if he does not sign today
8 games plus playoffs is a risk especially based on the rumoured amount of money they want

Gary Hackett is certain that he's NOT going to Preston - he's coming to Stoke instead. So that's that then!

PJ / Grapey:
Agree 100% but equally, what price the "what if?"
(As in "what if" we had got Nugent - or ano - when we had the chance?)
Hope it never comes to that but, given we can "smell it" , we've just got to give it a final shove haven't we?

Nugent and Fuller!
That would be a pairing to rival those in pj's avatar! not quite though!
News has it over here that he will be definitely joining Stoke, unfortunately for us.
It looks as though you are putting an ex-PNE dream team together! You aren't in for Eddie Lewis are you?

Haha we were a little while back I think, until the Rams showed up in the occasion with their promise of a season in the top flight. He hasn't done much there though

I've not seen a great deal of him apart from his goals on highlight programmes? Is he the type who drops deep or is he an out-and-out poacher? How would you see Nugent and Fuller working as a pair?

How would you see Nugent and Fuller working as a pair? Nugent - pacey, skilful, creative, balanced, two-footed and a scorer of exquisite goals. Sound familiar? He likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and defenders are fearful of stepping up because they know once he is in, they won't catch him. Also very good at dropping deep to receive a ball to feet, laying it off and then spinning to receive a first time pass from a player who is inventive enough to supply. How would I see Fuller and Nugent playing together? They would have to supply nappies to opposition defenders - because they would fill them! seriously that would be some strike force and one that I would be jealous of, if I was a jealous person.
