So the 'Fat One' is doing pretty ok for himself nowdays...
Probably the biggest horror signing ever...after Tudor and Bamber ..

Stainrod was nowhere near as bad as Bamber or in fact quite a number of our so called strikers over the years, the guy had skill to burn but unfortunately had one too many injuries and lost his pace by the time we got him

we all thought we were signing david platt as the mystery striker, and then they unveiled simon Stainrod, more Belly than a pork scratchings factory, he was completey crap for us probably the worst signing apart from keith Scott and Ian allison

Stainrod just didnt give a shit - which is fair enough given the Mills induced letharghy @ the club @ the time -
scored superb goal away @ Walsall (old ground) & also scored a winner away @ Blues as well as an equalizer @ Oldham on possibly the coldest day of all time.
Stainrod was not a success but to compare him to the likes of Bamber is obscene

His overhead at Walsall- cracker
Bamber did have short purple patch when he scored 9 goals I think it was
Stainrod was close to joining Barca during his QPR days-

Stainrod was a lazy fat has-been by the time he came to Stoke. See definition of Paul Stewart for accurate description! ;D
Bamber was a lanky, skinny ne'er-was, think of Keith Bertschin with no skill or pace.

Bertschin and pace don't belong in the same sentence- did a good job for us though, very good in the air

JR, whilst not express, I think you could call Keith Bertschin "rangy" - with his long legs he covered the ground surprisingly quickly from what I recall......certainly in comparison to Bambi!
But, heh, I am not going to get into an argument over a Stoke striker from 25 years ago!!
How's things goin' fella?

Bertshin was a quality signing at the time
All is grand here fella - miss getting to the games but quite busy at the minute so much time to plan a trip back
Hopefully Leicester to see us get the Championship trophy

Bertshin scored goals folks
Stainrod wasnt as good (for Stoke, brilliant @ previous clubs) but the likes of Bamber,Pericard,Scott & Stewart were all way way worse than simple Simon.

Remember Stainrod having a diving header in front of the boothen one week and thinking to myself, how the hell does he get himself airbourne ;D
He was more Dynorod when he came to play down the Vic - definitely past his best

There was an article on Stainrod in the QPR programme if anyone missed it (probably what prompted this thread!)
