A proposal was made a few(?) years ago such that an offiside decision could be flagged by the linesman but the ref would allow play to continue to a conclusion ie goal, goal kick, corner. The ref would then order a TV replay. If the ball didn't go out off the pitch he could let play continue.
There would be great excitement waiting for the result from the TV ref and not much time wasted as the ball is dead anyway.
Personally I think that TV replays would be beneficial in this and other instances eg Griffin!
As for the offside law it could do with amending anyway as it was brought in to stop forwards 'goalhanging'. This was in the era when the goalie couldn't reach the halfway line with his clearances! Now the ball regularly reaches the other end of the pitch it seems that the halfway line rule is ridiculous. At the very least the line should be up to the edge of the penalty area.
Just some thoughts.

Remember the 35 yard line they had in the NASL? Thought was a great idea

Isn't there a line in hockey too?
I agree dexter that some change has to happen and knowing the powers-that-be they will go for the easiest way which would be to dismiss the 'non-interfering' interpretation. But I hate seeing all the players of both teams crowded round the half way line at goal kicks and clearances. Perhaps they should make the pitches longer!!
