I honestly can't see that. The noises I heard from preston last week were that Harry won't le thim go back as it would be too 'comfortable'

Preston have just signed Craig Beattie on loan till the end of the season. Doubt if they will go for Nugent as well.
I wouldnt be suprised if he ended up at you or Ipswich, but would be shocked if he went elsewhere.

Arry would have to swallow an enormous amount of pride to allow him back to PNE 6 months after paying 6m for him. I can't see him doing it. He didn't sound like he was prepared to do it a few weeks ago.
"Those suggestions are absolute rubbish. There is not a chance. Do you think I paid all that money to sign him from Preston and then loan him back? That wouldn't be very clever.
And have Preston got the 500,000 going spare?

To back up Knowles on the "rumblings" at Deepdale, i too heard it as gospel that, despite him wanting to go back there, 'Arry was having precisely none of it.
His reputation being the driving factor.
FM: i also heard that they probably haven't got the 1/2 a mill as Portsmouth have paid 'em a down payment and "not very many of the instalments" yet on the original transfer !
(Obviously missing TS's razor sharp commercial acumen up there since he left !)

STOKE CITY are now at the head of the queue to land David Nugent on loan after Ipswich pulled out of the deal to sign him. Ipswich boss Jim Magilton announced he would be pursuing other targets after last night's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United because the Pompey striker does not yet feel he has fully recovered from recent groin surgery.
That now leaves promotion rivals Stoke in pole position with former Pompey boss Tony Pulis keen to recruit the striker to boost his club's promotion campaign.
Pompey and Ipswich had agreed a loan deal that would have seen the Championship outfit pay the striker's wages, a six-figure loan fee and a bonus if they achieved promotion at the end of the season.
But Magilton ended his interest in taking Nugent after the player told him he was still not fit enough and would not be so until next week at the earliest.
Magilton said: 'It is dead – finished.
'We have waited long enough.
'We were going to give him until the end of this week but the player has been honest enough to say he won't be fit and so we move on.
'Games are running out for us now and we have decided we need to move on and look at other targets.
'We have other irons in the fire and will step up our interest elsewhere now.'
The 22-year-old has found it hard to settle at Fratton Park since his £6m move from Preston in the summer.
The England international has scored three goals in cup competitions but has yet to find the net in the Premier League in 11 appearances for the club.
