In today's sun in the goals section, where it sums up Ipswich's match against Southampton, the first thing it says is that David Nugent hasn't signed for them yet because the bid has been hijacked by Stoke.
Ipswich were to loan him until the end of the season with view to a permanent deal worth £4mil in the summer.
Now i feel this would be tasty... Come on TP get him in
What do we think True or Bollocks?

I doubt whether he would appreciate conversing with Jon Parkin for 70 minutes though

Surely Nugent would prefer a move to us rather than Ipswich?
I.e. Location wise, and with the ex-Preston crew in our changing room at the moment.

We might have a chance of pulling this off. TP is a big mate of 'Arry. That's how we came to sign Buxton and Pericard .

oatcakefanzine.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=Potters&action=display&thread=1204495467Judging from the Ipswich local paper, it does seem like there is something in it. Stoke bid to steal Nugent from BluesIPSWICH Town are still in pole position to sign David Nugent, despite interest from other Championship clubs.
Stoke City are known to have approached Portsmouth this week about taking the former Preston striker but have been put off by the high price, while Crystal Palace are understood to be watching the situation closely.
Blues boss Jim Magilton confirmed he is still waiting to hear from Nugent and that he was aware of at least one other club taking a keen interest in the one-time England striker.
He said: “We are still waiting, hopefully we will hear this week.”
City boss Tony Pulis made an enquiry about Nugent last week but baulked when he was told the price, although after two straight defeats including a 3-0 loss at QPR yesterday, he may reconsider.
The Potters are second in the table and are backed by the Coates family who have made a new fortune from an internet gambling company.
The Blues have agreed to pay a loan fee and Nugent's wages along with a substantial bonus if they win promotion.
They are also understood to have agreed a deal in principle to make the move permanent if he does well.
The Pompey striker has been stalling over making a loan switch to Portman Road with a view to a permanent deal and there are concerns that he is using a groin injury as an excuse not to leave Fratton Park just yet.
Now other clubs are aware that Town and Pompey have agreed terms they have made efforts to lure him elsewhere although Wolves are also being linked with him.
While Stoke are understood to be heading the list although unsubstantiated rumours swept message boards over the weekend that Nugent was at Layer Road but these have subsequently proved to be untrue.
If the Nugent deal falls through there is a good chance that Ipswich will try and land Fulham striker David Healy, who Magilton has been a long-time admirer. tinyurl.com/2ss4er

if we are really serious about promotion then we would gamble on his wages

I said go after Nugent ages ago Well, I won't get excited unless...as Dan used to say...I see him wearing a Stoke shirt, holding up the scarf and swearing that he'll get us promoted...and occasionally pass the ball

David Nugent's proposed loan move from Portsmouth to Ipswich could go through this week according to Town boss Jim Magilton.
Nugent, 22, was expected to arrive at Portman Road last week but despite both parties agreeing on a financial package, the former Preston hitman remains at Fratton Park for the time being.
Magilton told Sky Sports News: "I think we'll decide after Tuesday night's game. We are getting a positive response that he wants to come and hopefully if everything is okay medically we'll get an opportunity to speak to him again and get a decision.
"He would give us a bit more quality and impact in games. He's proved himself at this level already and would give us all a lift and shows our intention to remain very, very competitive."

He's one of those names you hear so often you forget he's only 22. This would be a great move if it comes off and I'd love to see a few sparks fly with two egos like him and Ricci up front.

Funny isnt it, the rhetoric coming from the Ipswich/ Nugent camps sounds just like the Stoke/Hendry saga last season. So to me he dosnt want to go to Ipswich

22! I thought he was 26-27!!
If we could nick him from under the noses of Ipswich, we would be in business. Nugent would be a good reason to drop Mama.
