Please tell me at what point you started going Stoke matches, and of all the games before you started going, if theres one you could have been at which was it?
I'll go first, I started in november 1974 and if theres one game I wich I could have been at its the one where we beat Leeds 3-2 to end their unbeaten run. Yes, even more than Wembley 72.
So whats yours?

Newcastle at home around 1969 (1-1),I had been to Stoke before, but this was the first game I remember. standing on the grass in the old Stoke end,I was staring at the A-Z scoreboard for most of the second half and checking out how everyone else was getting on. first away game was West Brom. won 2-0 a game I wish I had attended other than the "72" cup final would have been Ajax away in the UEFA cup.

My first game was 1-1 against Burnley on the last game of the season of Lou's promotion season. Can't remember much about it though as I was only a little nipper. First game I can remember was either 0-0 or 1-1 against Chesterfield at The Brit when Megson was in charge. Up until that I actually supported ManUre and Stoke were me second team. After that game Stoke were me only team ;D ;D. (Not good changing teams I know, but I think I've made the right choice)

(Not good changing teams I know, but I think I've made the right choice) Yes mate but you did the good team change not the bad one! Changing from Man Yoo to Stoke is the reversal of gloryhunting so its good. Your soul is cleansed.

Cheers Joe. Definatley can't be accused of glory hunting. If I remember rightly I 'changed' in the season ManUre won the Treble and Stoke were in the Second Division!!!!!
The game I would have loved to have been at was the play-off second leg at Cardiff. It's not very often Stoke pull something out of the bag like that so would have loved to have been there. The mental I had in me own house was good enough so god knows what it was like at Ninian Park.
(Still brings a grin to me face just talking of it)

Joe! I really started going regularly around 1976/77 with my mates.I still remember setting out from Eaton Park around 11 o`clock in the morning to walk to the Vic,we used to get in the ground as soon as it opened and sit in our spot in the middle of the Boothen until kick-off. one game I`m really glad I didn`t miss was our 5-0 trouncing of Arsenal a few seasons earlier.
just to add to this post is there a Stoke game that you really wished you hadn`t attended other than L`pool(0-8) and Brum(0-7)? mine would be Southend away around 1991, night match freezing cold,no beer, very very long journey and we lost 1-0.
rower Ps..Swindon 0-6 was pretty bad but at least I got a few pints before the game

My old man started taking me down regularly from the age of about 4 or 5. My first memory though is from 81 (I think), Big Dave Watson covered in blood after a clash of heads, I can't remember who it was against mind.
To my eternal shame I went on a pre-wembley bender the night before the Bristol City Autoglass Final and ended up missing the match so I suppose that's the one game I should have been at. Strangely it doesn't actually rankle that much now, though at the time I thought I'd regret it for life.
Match I wish I'd missed - Colchester away a few years ago, we lost, the atmosphere was awful, we were all hungover, the ground is crap, I lost my phone and to top it all we ran out of petrol on the way back and had to walk two miles along the motorway to the nearest service station. Oh, and the bird gave me an earful when I got in too.

Hi Joe, My first game was versus Everton in November 1970. Stood in the old Butler Street paddock and I was hooked. I'm most sorry to have missed the game at Notts County to win promotion in May 1979. It gives me a sharp pain to think about it even now. Was all set up to go with my mates but my dear grandfather died two days before and i couldn't face it. Should have gone though for him.

First game was way back in '64 against Man Ure - Stoke lost but I was still hooked. The game(s) I most regret missing were the League Cup Final (couldn't get a ticket) and the promotion party at Notts County (can't remember why I wasn't there) Stopping Leeds on their long run was one of many great occasions that I WAS present at

My dad took me down to the Vic in the early 70's. It was a Christmas fixture & we played Liverpool & we won. That's all I can remember. I hadn't reached double figures. It was superb. I loved every minute. I fell in love with the lads in red and white. Fantastic!

My first match was around 1958 when my granddad took me and I sat on his shoulder, ducked under the turnstile so he didn't have to pay for me. The odd thing was my granddad was a really keen Vale fan and he used to take me to both Stoke and Vale. Lots of people did in those days. My first memory was of Vale 4 Liverpool 3 with a full house at Vale Park!!
When I was old enough to choose, there was only one team for me and I've been going ever since.
I remember Sir Stans first game back, and his last when we beat west Brom 3-1, but we allways beat West Brom.
Best games were beating Leeds 3-2 after they scored twice first, and the 5-0 thrashing of Arsenal. And the 1-0 win over ManUre in the cup, Dennis smith scoring at the Boothen End.
Best player, by a mile, ever in a Stoke shirt, my hero the great Jimmy Greenhoff.
Missed the League Cup in 72 cause I was away on business. I've been at Wembley and Cardiff for all the other big games.
Ah what memories, and I still get just as excited now as I did 30 years ago.

I'm gutted to say that I can't remember my first match, or my first season!!! It was either 86/87 or 87/88 - or maybe even 88/89!?. Perhaps someone can help? I was there for the Man City fancy dress parade. Was there when we beat Leeds in the last minute - Graham Shaw running down the left on a break to win a corner, which he quickly took himself, flicked on at the front post by Steve Bould and burried at the back post by (OO!) Georgie Berry. Does anyone know that season? Can also remember Chris Hemming, Cliff Carr, Gary Hackett, Dave Bamber, Simon Strainrod, Tony Kelly, Gerry Dailey(?), if that helps to narrow things down? Anyway, I was most gutted to miss another Leeds match: Stoke 7-2 Leeds. I was watching a magician at a party at Stallington Social Club ??? and was in tears when my Bro told me the score He had gone - git! ;D

Cheers Sport! That is my ONLY clear memory from the Boothen in that era - apart from half-time in that Man City game when some fancy-dressed coppa was belly-laughing at the Boothen. (We put 3 in the net, and he laughed no more ) Oh, kinda remember Beagrie running down the left towards the Stoke End and then coming back doing loadsa summer-saults (sp!?) / back-flips!! Time for bed for you aint it!? Not working early doors tomorrow?? Deka

This is the truth I swear my 1st home game was the 4-4 draw against Luton town (sat down with my Grandad). First full season was the 17 point season (also had a season ticket for Man Utd in the days when they always used to play at home on alternate Saturdays and used to go with my Uncle) My first Stoke "away" game was actually in the Stretford End when we were hammered 5-0. I cried at the end and thats when i realised it was Stoke for me.....
