Sheer class. Has he misplaced a pass since joining us? Eustace or Whelan ? Tough one that It's just a shame that he will be suspended for the next two games and delap and whelan won't be able to run the game for us. Delap has been a class act since xmas as well, i'm pretty sure he would've picked up that leighetwood for Both of his goals. Pity we had diao on, who was floating around , doing his usual Valencia come athletico madrid style "stroll" on the half way line.... Massive positives for us, with WHELAN, LAWRENCE, FULLER, SHAWCROSS,PERICARD AND DELAP on permanent contracts, we are ALWAYS going to challenge for the automatic promotion spots, if we lose out next year, we will be back next year.Because we have that extra bit of quality that separates us from mid table teams... But we won't lose out

I'm sorry to say it, but with the Webster case, we're not sure we keep any players any longer. This could be worse than the Bosman rule.

When he plays along side Delap he and the whole of the midfield look class, but unfortunately Diao is a "Brammar" factor at the moment! i honestly don't think the team is benefiting from having a 75% fit Diao in it and obviously this will have a knock on effect to the rest of the team.
If it wasn't illegal i'd put some sort of performance enhancing drug in Diao's half time brew!

Seen as the bloke he was supposed to be marking scored twice, says it all really. Thought he was poor on Sunday.

Whelan is turning out to be a quality signing. Sunday was his worst performance for us, but I feel that is partly attributed to his partner's poor outing (Diao).
He has shown he ahs a fair strike on him too (decent save by Camp). On TUesday at PNE I think he gave one pass away.
He could turn into our next cult hero
Super, super Glenn, Super, super Glenn, Super, super Glenn, Super Glenny Whelan!

totally agree Whelan is this season what a fully fit Diao was last season. Keeps it nice and simple plays the midfield ball how it should be played PS Eustace is wank

Diao was nowhere Sunday and Whelan was trying to do jobs and failed to do either in the end!
Good player though and when he hasn't got to do two players jobs he looks very solid and always in control!

SIOCH i agree totally different player.
My point is last season when our midfield was struggling Diao came in calmed it down & sorted it.
This season our wank (mainly eustace) midfield has been turned around by Whelan & i dont think its any coincidence that Delap has vastly improved now he finally has a decent partner in the midst with him

Perhaps I'm missing it as well but I saw absolutely nothing from Whelan in his first two games - hardly noticed he was playing tbh. Admittedly he was playing with Diao for much of that time...thought he was much better against Ipswich, where he started to display that bit of class we'd been told about.
Sure he'll continue to improve, he's obviously a talented lad.

Personally I think his positioning is shit, especially in defensive situations. I'm far from impressed.
