I love the fact they have that as an official text. Good news and surely means a zero match ban is on its way!

It still appears he thinks it was worthy of a booking! Red Card Rescinded? Posted on: Mon 03 Mar 2008
Andy Griffin's chances of having yesterday's red card rescinded have dramatically improved after referee Andy D'Urso this morning admitted his decision to send him off was wrong.
The Essex born official issued a red card to the City defender 42 minutes in to the Potters 3-0 defeat at Loftus Road on Sunday, after believing he lunged in dangerously on Hogan Ephraim.
However, video evidence clearly shows Griffin took the ball and made no contact at all with the former West Ham
Speaking to stokecityfc.com, Football Administrator Eddie Harrison says: "The Football Association have confirmed to Stoke City that the referee has re-considered the matter after watching the incident again.
"His views will be submitted to the regulatory commission tomorrow along with the submission from the club.
"While it doesn't automatically mean his suspension will be uplifted, but the fact that he has now indicated that the matter was only worthy of a caution stands us in good stead."

The only card it merited was a greetings card to congratulate him on making a good strong clean tackle.

What I dont agree with is that at the time albeit we were 2-0 down we were still in the game, but as soon as Griff was sent off the game was as good as lost.2-0 down and down to 10 men is a real uphill task.So now he agrees he was wrong and we get a chance to have the sending off rescinded, but it does'nt take away the fact that up until he sent Griff off we still had aspirations of getting something out of the game, but once Griff went the game was lost.

Dear Sir/Madam, I see that referee Andy D'Urso has reviewed his decision to send off Andy Griffin, claiming that in retrospect, "it was only a cautionary offence". Given that Griffin slid, connected with the ball (and the ball only), am i now to understand that tackling is not allowed? May i also ascertain that as it seems Mr D'Urso is unfamiliar with the rules (an accusation that has been levelled at him from supporters of many clubs over many years) that he will required to refresh his footballing knowledge, possibly in the Northern Beer Swillers League, Robblesfield region? Seriously, i know refs have a tough time but this man is a clown and should be dealt with. The Football League have a good record with officials to account and i hope it continues in this instance. Many Thanks A disgruntled supporter.

What should happen now is that D'Urso should banned for three games. It's only fair, Griff would have been banned had we lost the appeal.

If he was blessed with even the basic level of human intelligence, instead of trying to cover his arse he woudl have said "yes, retrospectively i have made an eroor there, and i apologise to the player and club involved"
Everyone knows that refereeing is a difficult job, but prickish statements like that only futher the belief that officials are power-obsessed idiots.

I actually thought D'Urso had an OK game apart from this one applaing decision.
shocked he still sees the incident as worthy of a bokking as anyone can see it wasnt even a foul.

The CUNT should NEVER EVER officiate ever again after not only admitting that it was not a sending off offence, but then goes on to suggest that he believes it was a cautionable offence.
"Well was it fuck Durso, so just FUCK OFF".

In order to send someone off then you have to be certain that what you see is the whole picture. If any doubt then that player in question has got to remain on the field of play, and yet he chose to send him off.
WELL THE CUNT CAN JUST GO AND FUCK HIM-SELF RIGHT OFF.

'The only card it merited was a greetings card to congratulate him on making a good strong clean tackle. ' ;D
Gareth Barry completely mis-timed a tackle on Saturday sending an Arsenal player arse over tit- was late , wreckless and dangerous. He gets a yellow- Griffin for sure made a clean tackle- In saying was a yellow not a red, D'Urso is still failing to admit was 100 % wrong.

If the red card is rescinded i don't think they can replace it with a yellow????

Would Mr Durso care to recompense me for my £24 train fair and £22 match ticket for destroying over 50% of a football match due to his ineptitude ?

Would be nice if D'Urso came out and said this himself rather than communicating via proxy. But then he does just tend to scuttle off and hide behind the FA until he's given his next game.
If referees just admitted occasionally they were wrong, and came out and faced up to their actions there would be far less dissent by players on the pitch and angry supporters off it. English football governance just seems to get more farcical every year IMO.
