Seriously, why not? Managers (or someone from the coaching staff) invariably send someone out to talk to the cameras after the game, even if they've been on the end of a 6-0 dicking. Why don't the refs have to come out and explain their decisions after games in the same way?

If a ref makes a controversial decision that people are struggling to fathom, why doesn't he explain the decision after the game?

SirRobin - I'd love to hear D'Arso's explanation surrounding the sending-off!

I didn't edit anything. Hence the lack of a "post modified" bit at the bottom.

Derrrr so thought he had faced the cameras but the thick blind fooker was actually just talking to his reflection in the shop window. Apparently he noticed one of the maniquins acting violently

I imagine it's because it undermines their authority. One referee did actually do it, I think near the start of last season when Liverpool beat Watford (?) with a dodgy penalty and a red card for the offender. The referee's reason? "I saw the Watford man and Stevie go together and when Stevie went down I knew it was a penalty."

They'd surely be respected more if they explained their decisions or even held their hands up and admitted they got it wrong once in a while.
Statements as ludicrous as the one Styles made about Gerrard deserved to be shown up for the horseshit that they are.
