Probably the best away trip I've been on including Cardiff in the Play Offs. Definiitely the most pissed.
I had some photos but can't find them so very happy to see these. We actually found the hotel the players were in and remember giving Humphries loads.
Had them sungalsses for years as well.

I've just discovered these piccies and seen myself in several of them looking very young and skinny! Thanks for the memories. My abiding one is lee Sandford getting himself sent off with the latest, dirtiest tackle I've ever seen. he really couldn't be arsed with the game so he did that deliberately then came and watched with the Stokies in the crowd. I also loved the train back from Hove to Brighton, it was so crowded the Stokies were even in those wire mesh luggage racks along the top of the carriages all singing 'Always look on the Bright Side of Life". What a day

What a day Also going through that tunnel giving it "Alan Ball's red and white army". There was an old couple sat on that train and were whiter than ghost's when they got off. ;D

"Nice girls go down to Stoke City FC" with a picture of a pair of scantily clad ladies outside the old ticket office. My Mum went mad when I put that in the wash! Stoke T-Shirts - get a re run of this on sale!

Quite simply one of the top five awaydays of all time - sensational photos.
Awaydays were notoriously prone to exaggeration in the re-telling, but everything you hear about that day is almost certainly true.
I have a copy of the Brighton evening paper somewhere - no doubt in the loft, and now sepia tinged and as brittle as parchment - which described the scenes in glorious detail. As someone notes above, Leeds had been here in the previous week or so and had caused major disorder. The contrast with the gallows humour of our visit was marked.
If I had to crystallise what following SCFC used to be like - then Brighton that day is about as close as I could get.
