IlfordDave, that was my first one too, pretty sure it was Rooster who went through and put it in though, not Steino. Cracking game that was, the replay is better left alone though!

Yeah at the Vic, I'm pretty sure it was either 95/96 or 96/97, we lost 0-1 I think. Bastards.

Erm, about '88/'89 at Vale Park, I was only about 9, couldn't see over the wall at the front. Can't remember the score, but the Police horses were on the pitch after the match, right along the halfway line.

Was Rooster yes not Stein
My first was a friendly- they won1-0, how I don't know. They unveiled a scorebard of sorts that night.
First proper was 1-1 at the Vic- Leigh Palin scoring.

The 1-1 draw in 89/90 for me as well.
To be honest we were a bit lucky to get a point after Ronnie Jepson and Ron Futcher both missed chances that you'd have fancied Christopher Reeve to tuck away.
Still, we didn't lose, and that was the main thing (we drew 0-0 in the return leg from what i remember).

I think it was a Wedgewood cup game 70's at Vale Park. Only about 4,000 odd there, stood with Vale fans, no trouble between the clubs in those days, and we won I think.

mine was a friendly up at Vale Park about 78/79, all I remember is Stokies invading the pitch and going on to invade the bycars, and that the match was sponsored by Bass, everyone who was in the ground had a ticket which entered you in an halftime raffle, I won and got 4 party 7s of Hemeling Lager, which was a bastard to carry to the car

Can't remember the year, but mine was a pre season friendly at Vale Park and, if memory serves, we won 6 - 0. I seem to recall we were wearing that light blue Man City(ish) kit.

Not sure what year it was, but we were both in Div 2 (now league 1) and not that many years ago (may not be my first one but its the one that stood out) and I just remember it seemed like stoke had taken over vale's ground, cant remember the score at their place and I remember the ticket office had messed up because not only did like one other group fo people come and say we were in their seats, but 2 did, liek 4 guys were stood up because we all had the same tickets for the same seat (maybe ticket touts did a number on us?) but it was still a great match.
I think it was the match the pitch was so crap, the ball didnt roll over the line it stuck in the mud; but i could be wrong...

Mine was the season where it was 1-1 and Leigh Palin scored, maybe 1989?
I can remember the autoglass game at the Vic, we were the holders and Vale beat us 1-0 with their only shot on target. We missed shitloads of chances, it was like a siege on their goal, the golden one missed a penalty too.

as I typed it I thought you know it could have been Rooster, but short of getting my oatcake collection out and checking the match report no way of checking ........ maybe Steino's name is stuck in my head from other Derby games that season ;D
