Reading the post about someone seeing a Stoke player (Griffin) out socially reminded me of something a long long time ago. I hadnt been driving long and was going along the 'D'Road in me little Mini, when I noticed I brand new Triumph Stag ahead of me. ( I know its hard to believe but they caused a sensation when they first came out) Anyway, the Stag was drifting from lane to lane, following a bit closer behind I could see a Guy with longish hair, a big sheepskin coat, one hand on the steering wheel, one arm around a girl, as I drove past overtaking, I could see it was our very own Hero, Alan Hudson obviously enjoying the rewards of his success and having a good night out in Stoke !!! Them were the days.

Saw Carl Hoofball at Holden Bridge petrol station just after he moved to West Brazil, seemed genuinely sad about leaving, the play acting tart! ;D Meet Tony Ford in Maxims early 90's the night we lost at home, can't remember against who, but he laughed when i spoke to him about it, a bit of a tussle erupted and i got barred, fucking twat!

I met this bloke in The Lyme Valley on Wednesday. He was very affable. I don't know if I should admit this but it made my day.

Danny Pugh was watching the Wedding Singer at The Palace in Manchester last night. Obviously one of of the more cultured footballers...at the theatre....watching the Wedding Singer...!!! The blonde he seemed to be with was quite fit.

A few years back I saw George Berry in Hanley in the car park behind the Casino kicking his car. I don't know what had pissed him off, and I didn't want to ask either. I may be mistaken but I think he was wearing that Sheepskin coat he used to do his warm ups in on the pitch at the Vic.

8 of us on holiday in Corfu (Ipsos) about 1980. Sitting on the beach and spotted Denis Smith and family. Got talking to him and he ended up going to a bar with us and having a few beers untill eventually his wife came across and asked him how much longer he was going to be. What a guy!

Met the entire squad in Pizza Hut at Festival Park when Brian Little was in charge, got a napkin signed!
They were on the way to Bournemouth away and lost the next day 4-0 if I remember right, always balmed it on the Pizza Hut buffet deal!!

I never see players out and about. I think the only one I saw was Marc Goodfellow at a traffic light after we beat Derby 3-0 away.

I once saw Peter Fox filling up his car at Baddeley Green petrol station (opposite Acorn garage)
I once took an Open University exam and Mark Prudhoe was also taking part in an exam
I played with Chapman at 6th Form, Nev Chamberlain at St Johns and against Crooks - inter branch Ladsn'Dads competition.
There was a "oldest swinger in town" type with long hair who worked in the tax office in Hanley who was ALWAYS a hanger on with the players at the Place etc so I'm sure he's got some fascinating stories to tell?
(In the Preston programme Chaplow selected Argentina as his choice for the Euro Championships so perhaps some footballers just aren't very interesting company!!!)

I saw Paul McGrath in Dun Laoghaire a few years back, but figured he probably didn't want to be talked to! He was in a bar not drinking! I was very impressed!

During the Macari era I used to see Steino, Sandford and Dave Regis a lot down castle. I also remember seeing Paul Merson having a piss down that alleyway next to Heroes as it was then. I'd seen him in there earlier with Steve Bould. Arsenal had played at Everton that Saturday afternoon. For all his negative comments currently about Stoke I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

Already posted on the other thread but the only player I've ever seen away from the Brit/Vic or when I didn't go somewhere to specifically to meet a player was last year when I saw Lee Hendrie in Aruba up Hanley. He was a lot shorter than I thought he'd be, and he oredered a rack of ten shots, the pisshead, and he was supposed to be playing the next day. Can't remember who we played though.

used to see George Berry quite often in the chippy in Tean. He must have been on a mean diet! The fish in there must have given him all of the energy.
