Many of you may have read Smeegs posts on the Ben Howard Appeal at the top of the page
The 'Oatcake' readership has changed considerably since our last request for a team so it will be interesting to see if there are any footballers still out there
The suggestion is that we raise a team; Oatcake Occasionals (the OO's) to play in a four way tournament against the likes of Vale, Delilas and ANO Probably three shortish games of say fourty minutes (or 6*20).
If we get enough players then with rolling subs you could play as long or as little as you are able
Please chose your preferred dates from;
Saturday am 19th April (morning of Bristol City game at Northwood)
Monday am May 5th (Bank Holiday on Hanley Towns ground)
Sat or Sunday am later in May at the Mitch (SCFC not yet approached)

I'll ask my gaffer if he'll let me play, the club don't like us playing for other teams but now Gary Mac's come in things may be different.

Paul, I'm back playing regularly again now (although sidelined this week due to freak "chasing child around house and breaking little toe on doorframe" incident!) and I've already booked my flight back to watch the Leicester game, so I will be available to play on Monday 5th May.
I won't be available for the other date - I was going to come back for the Brizzle game until it was put on Sky, so I'm saving the cost of the flight and coming over for Cov away instead.
So, put simply - yes to May 5th, no to other dates.

I don't think you have to worry about that Merk. The modern criteria to be picked is to be over 15 stone and a rimmer which leaves me out on both accounts! H

Am ok I think for those dates mentioned..at the moment. You know what is like being a popular socialite, so many offers, so many premiers to attend.

I'll play if you need players. Can play defence/Midfield either on the right or in the middle. Don't know about Monday 5th May though - If we get promotion on the 4th I dont think ill be in a fit state.

I'll be in (most dates I reckon). Probably better suited to play in goal now - not really played much since the last one when I was hungover and kicked the ball into my mouth...

Count me in as playing (for now)
Obviously if we get enough, I'll let someone - who will be obviously better, take my place.

Why not have a match between a Rimmers XI, perhaps with either Merk or Fornside managing, playing against a Puis hating wankstain XI, managed by..........well, you decide!
Now that's a game that would draw the crowds!

Good respnse
It will be outside on a full size pitch but the games will be short - so some (less than 100% fit) players might opt for the rolling sub roll or ask to play in only one game etc
Helpful if you could all vote as to your preference as to date. I would imagine some would not like to play on the bank holiday?

Post by markscfc72 on Feb 29, 2008 14:45:22 GMT
yeah the 19th april am would be best for me mate, although i could do with us being finished by 12:30, do you think that would be possible?

Post by StokieSC on Feb 29, 2008 14:45:50 GMT
I'm easy for any date here.
I'd like it to be at Hanley Town, so I'd personally opt for the Bank Holiday.
Majority vote gets it though.
Paul check your mail.
