Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp says he expects David Nugent to complete his loan move to Ipswich this week.
The two clubs have come to a financial agreement with Ipswich set to pay Pompey a loan fee for the 22-year-old.
Redknapp told BBC Radio Solent: "It should be tied up in the next few days. It's a good deal for us financially too which is important."
The striker has started just four games in the Premier League, since his £6m move from Preston in the summer.
Redknapp added: "Peter Storrie has been dealing with their chairman, and they've made a good offer. Lots of club have asked about taking David, but Ipswich are the only ones to come forward with a decent offer.
"David is interested in going, so we're just waiting for his injury to clear up, which should be in the next few days."

I prefer mama upfront with ric.
I may get slated for this, but nugent is a tad overrated, he scored 15 goals in the championship, not bad, not bad at all. But certainly not worth a 6 million move to a premiership club and an england cap....

Assuming it doesn't take him a month to get fit, he could well be the key player for them.
With a fit and in form Nugent, I fully expect them to push for a top two spot especially considering their relative easy run in.

We need another winger/forward to complete the jigsaw.
One down ... could be two down if Sinclair goes elsewhere ...
Come on Tone!

I know Mama offers something different, but come on I agree the £6m fee looks excessive, but players are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them. I'd have loved Nugent to come here. BUT, as I've said elsewhere, there seems little point in signing a striker, as Mama will always get a starting place when fit, as will Ric. No-one like Nugent is going to come here to warm the bench, and we have Gally and Cresser to fill in. We are probably better strengthening other areas.

I think that its great signing from there point of view but for us i think that a player like the mama is more important to use cause he links up the play so well and lets face it at the moment we have no problem scoring goals! It could defo help them get promotion!!!
