Nash set for Stoke loan move? Carlo Nash could complete a loan move in time to be on the bench at Deepdale
By Dave Seddon Former Preston North End goalkeeper Carlo Nash could be returning to Deepdale with Stoke City on Tuesday night. The Potters have approached Wigan Athletic about borrowing Nash on loan after Marton Fulop was recalled by Sunderland less than a week after moving to the Britannia Stadium.
Stoke need back-up for first-choice keeper Steve Simonsen and Wigan are keen to lend out Nash in order for him to get match practice after a lengthy absence with a broken leg.
Nash joined Wigan in a £300,000 transfer from Preston eight months ago after spending time on loan at the JJB Stadium last season.
He's yet to make a first-team appearance for Latics, with Chris Kirkland and Mike Pollitt ahead of him in the pecking order.Would Carlo recieve a good welcome from the Preston fans? Leave your thoughts below. www.lep.co.uk/pnenews/Nash-set-for-Stoke-loan.3815628.jp

Aw bollox - Nash was gash when we played them at Deepdale last season.
Nowhere near the quality of Fulop i'd suggest, so let's hope he's a "loan with a view to gathering splinters".

Would he really be an upgrade on Simo?

It isn't a question of whether he is an upgrade on Simo but whether he is an upgrade on Hoult.

That's fine if he's happy to sit on the bench, fornside - but Wigan may be under the impression he's coming for games? And would he swap the Wigan reserves for our bench?
"Wigan are keen to lend out Nash in order for him to get match practice after a lengthy absence with a broken leg"
Maybe we just want to field an entirely ex-PNE XI against them tonight?

FM, Tone said he'd be happy to win by any means but I hadn't considered total confusion before... ;D

He hasn't played a first-team game of any description since January 2007.
A 3-2 win for Preston at Deepdale.....against Stoke!

Fulop seems to have been loaned as new first choice with potential to be bought in the summer, but surely Nash would be a bench warmer as he is not even close to being as good as Simmo IMHO?

It isn't a question of whether he is an upgrade on Simo but whether he is an upgrade on Hoult. Not the former but probably the latter.
Deffo "a loan with a view to splinters and a numb bum" please!

boards.footymad.net/mboard/fmb.php?tno=426&fid=204&sty=2&act=1&mid=2130789916He seems to have been around the block, but PNE fans seemed to think he was excellent - but left on bad terms. Another big lad - 6' 5" Probably the best keeper we have had since Fred Else in the 60s. I thought he left so that he could move to the South, but that didn't happen. What was the real story - did he just fall out with Simmo?
Balls to pride, lets get him back. Agree best keeper we had that I remember. Personally reckon he fell out with Simmo so lets get him back.
Yes get him back.Forgive and forget.Best keeper imo since Alan Kelly senior
He was brilliant and his departure was the turning point of our season without doubt.
If Nash were to be available and willing to come to PNE I think he'd be worth the risk. He was certainly the best keeper ive seen since Alan Kelly snr and as ive said before, his departure marked the beginning of defensive frailty
I'll have him back in a shot.Organises the back 4 as well as decent keeper
brilliant keeper, big lad who reminded me of peter schemichal at a lower lover, gives defenders confidence. Hope you haven't got him tonight.
Left Preston by moaning and causing uprest in the dressing room. Had to go i'm affraid, try to decieve the manager. GF problems down south and ends up going to wigan. Good player, left on bad terms really.

He was still gash against us there last season.
But fair enough, they've obviously watched him a lot, lot more.
Plus if we do get him, that will hack 'em off big style tonight ;D

BTW - didn't he leave cos he got a sniff at the Prem at Fulham last year?
PNE stalled on letting him go cheap (which was the attraction for Fulham i suspect) hence the bad blood.

Thanks FM, maybe it wasn't a real "sniff" either then?
Although the consensus from Deepdale seems to be he isn't that bad - indeed "fantastic" is what Simmo (the ex preston manager, not the guy he'll want to oust if he comes) called him.
