www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A32791368 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D What's Coates worth these days? I've read upwards of 100m. I thought it was nice that a shit fan noticed us to be honest.

The Coates family is worth around £190M I think, about the same as Dave Whelan

Coates AND HIS FAMILY are worth upwards of £100 million but most of that will be tied up in Bet365 so it isn't ready cash to be spent on Stoke. The thing we DO have going for us is that we are virtually debt free unlike most clubs who get promoted to the Premiership so, hopefully, a big wedge of the increased TV fees, gate receipts and merchandising profits (a total of £40 million ish?) will be available to spend on the playing side (fees and wages). If Coates managed to bring another investor on board that would be even better.
We'll struggle like most promoted clubs but we should not be a basket case like Derby. We have a CHANCE of staying up which would be nice.

What are the Sky revenues first year and are they thrown at you up front?

They are £30 million fees just for being there. I don't know if they are paid up front or in installments. Above that there are payments (£500k?) for each place above bottom place (paid at the end of the season) and of course, the ridiculous parachute payments of £11 million a year for two years after relegation.

plus about £1M for each live game with a minimum number shown on TV

What chance Coates turns round to the family and says
"look, this is about as good as it gets for a 70 year old bloke, let me spend my $XXm, watch my club consolidate at this level and after that you can reap the rewards"
Is that ticking too many 'tgtbt' boxes??

As far as I can see none of Coates' family are Stokies. I'd like to know what his end game is as he gets close to shuffling off this mortal coil! Will he flog the club (or most of it) to a third party at some point and leave the cash to his family (or to the local cats and dogs home) or will he leave them a club which they have no interest in?
Of course, promotion to the Premiership might convert the family to being fans - just the prospect already seems to be converting a few ordinary residents of North Staffs!!!

One thought he went for the CW postcode. Family are probably embarrassed that daddy still wastes his time associating with ST postcode folk.
WTF would happen if we became owned by a cats home though??

I think being owned by a cats and dogs home would be great. I may suggest it if I can get to the next AGM!

Fornside, Whats the betting that the parachute payments will be cancelled if we are promoted. What do you reckon the value of the club would be WHEN we get promoted?

Value "when" we are promoted? £25 million upwards I suppose................
Problem is that Premiership clubs seem to be valued on what some rich nutter is prepared to pay and not on the traditional method of assets less liabilities and estimated income streams etc.

does anyone have historic stoke figures? I can run an outrageously inaccurate model and predict the value if so
You might ask, what's the point of that. I agree, but there's plenty of demand for it (luckily for Mrs Baggz and her shopping habit)

soi - is Maurice Setters still with us? If he is I will give him a kiss. Per PC. If I was as old as he is I would be spending as much of my money as I possibly could before the sprogs got any of it - just look at poor old Alec Humphreys with that twat of a son on the board

You'd think we'd have no chance signing a couple of midfield terriers?
