So the left were lying, then? Who are 'the left' in this question? I'm talking about Johnson acting more right than he actually is to get votes. Are you saying Johnson is left? No, Rip, I meant those on the left that have painted him as some far right extremist. I agree on the bluster, I have mentioned it on here.

Have to hope the next Labour leader manages to bridge the gap between the traditional left and the Blair centre. Boris may well be 'liberal for a tory' but his principles are very much malleable. We will see which side of the party takes his fancy. Hopefully he moves as far away from the anti immigrant rhetoric as possible. Either way, I think 5 years more of the Tories, especially considering the economic problems BJ's Brexit may well cause, will leave the door open for a labour leader without as much (or at least with harder to weaponise) baggage. Be interested to see who might step forward for Labour. I think the entire front bench has been shambolic, so it might be someone decent who hasn't had the high profile of some.

For all those crying into their quinoa a gentle reminder that Boris is a very Liberal Conservative. The hard right cabal narrative was political spin. Don't worry. £ up to it's highest for 19 months. Have we all just got a little richer overnight? You are spot on. Johnson no longer is at the mercy of the ERG or the Brexit Party, if he was under threat from the latter. To a certain level he will be able to go his own way, and that is far more centrist than he has been acting during the election. So the left were lying, then?

If Liebour had just stuck by their promise to honour the referendum then no remoaner could have complained. The leave vote was won and their promise was in the manifesto. Instead, they sensed some opportunity and tried to be woke by listening to Twitter and the London dog walker marches, as did the Fib Dumbs. Unfortunately, they judged it incorrectly, and as I've said many times, the 2nd ref morons are nowhere near representative of the majority of the country, particularly northern Labour leave voters. Twitter is the social media equivalent of a sixth form debate. Cronies like Campbell stating that the public wanted another vote were in fantasy land, and with Soros dollars they were trying to influence public opinion rather than reflect it. Much of the Tory Party did not deserve this victory, having also tried to sabotage the referendum but the BXP were simply not clear or organised enough to challenge. Johnson, by simply saying what should have been said three years ago, has pretty much saved the Tories from oblivion. Bang on.

The Labour party has had a desperate night. The party who has fought tooth and nail for a hundred years to help the labour force of this city is being ridiculed by its core supporters.I find this abhorrent.People should be sad at the fact that they have lost a voice not ridiculing and celebrating. Desperate times for the poor and vulnerable around the country and this city. Yes they have badly let people down as you say By going whichever way they think the wind is blowing. Deserting long held principles should never be rewarded. Shame Caroline Flint fell victim to their cowardice.

If these polls are right, who steps forward for Labour? You would hope for Labour's sake, someone who can at least put their shoes on the correct feet 😂😂😂 No front benchers, then?

Tories aren't making the swings that the polls suggested so far, it's more like 3% than 6/7%. So still a massive majority but maybe not as big as forecast. But who knows? The swing to the tories is a quite steady double figures, the Brexit party are saving labours bacon tonight by taking many votes from the tories. The danger all along.

The huge rise in BXP votes shows just how much this is to do with brexit though. Lots of labour voters clearly didn't want to vote for Tories. Which is why Jezza should have backed Brexit.

"Is it time for them to go?". "Yes". Good lad, Snelly! I'm not sure he dismissed a lot of the policies as such, in fact he said some of the nationalisation played well on the doorstep, just the cluaterfuxk of the labour london based, Brexit bollocks. Certainly makes the next Labour leader contest interesting. I just liked the straight answer! 😁

It's not really about Farage personally, BREXIT is bigger than that, and is as much a left wing issue as anything. Are you genuinely happy with the Johnson deal as it stands? The ERG influence will be severely weakened if this result fully pans out and Brexit will be a moderate one and a chance of no deal all but gone. It doesn't sound like a hard Brexiteer win to me. Throw in a strong chance of Irish issues resurfacing and I'm not sure whose winning here from either side? But it's more Brexitty than anything Jezza could support. That's where he's fallen down.

the working class were never going to vote for a bearded, tea total, vegan who pals around with dodgy groups and doesn't sing the national anthem... the fact he was promising to essentially null and void the brexit vote just added to all the other reasons not to vote for him, he probably even lost some of the middle class luvvies who suddenly realised their taxes would sky rocket. Perfectly summed up. Corbyn was never going to be elected PM by the British people Brexit or no Brexit The beard did it....

There is nothing in the Tory manifesto that favours the working man. Nothing at all. Buy shares in food banks though. Be quick. Momo, the public have rejected Labour, the working man has rejected Corbyn, their choice...may be not yours nor my choice...but if they have any future, Labour need to listen. Have they? Are these exit polls accurate?

Stoke on Trent going Tory tells you all you need to know about the current Labour Party Crying shame that the party of the working man as been taken over by the extreme left Hopefully they’ll learn that the British people don’t want this They’ve got five years to find a new Blair Or even a John Smith.
