Clyne was a straight red. Watch the replay on that one. Lunged in, two feet, studs showing. Had Eric stayed down Twattenberg would probably have sent him off, but he bottled it.
Other than that yes, he had a very good game.

Only really deserved a draw today but we were due a bit of luck after that Palarse defeat.
Defended okay on the whole, created the best chances of the game but there were large spells in the second half when they were absolutely bossing midfield and we looked completely shagged.

Just to clarify, are you lot saying this is indefensible because it's about child abuse and paedophilia or because it's insulting Bobby Moore? The impression I get it that some seem to think this is a really big deal because it is insulting to Bobby Moore, when surely it would be just as wrong if it was about any other human being? It's insulting to Bobby Moore because it was chanted on the ground where he is adored and is a considered a legend. The same numpties were also chanting "Enguurland" later on, after abusing the only English captain to lift the World Cup! It was embarrassing and shamed our club. Can you imagine the reaction on here if opposing fans chanted something as disgusting about Sir Stan? So it is less to do with it being about paedophilia, and more to do with it insulting Bobby Moore? Don't get me wrong, I think both are classless, but it appears we have our priorities slightly mixed up. Either way, the solution is pretty obvious. If everyone on here reckons these kind of people are just a minority, and I suspect they probably are, then the rest of us need to stand up every now and tell these idiots to pipe down.

Also testament to a strong team spirit and belief in our squad. Hughes certainly has them motivated and with have definitely moved beyond the old 'stop at 40 points' mentality.

Two reasons. 1) I think he is good enough and 2) Even if you or I think Shawcross/Muniesa is our best CB partnership, Sparky obviously hasn't made up his mind yet. I'd quite fancy seeing him get a run in CM rather than him being on the bench. Having said all that, I think the only reason he isn't in the team right now is that he has just come back from injury and is still gaining fitness. No point rushing him back after a hamstring. I don't think it is, at every turn when Wollscheid and Shawcross are fit they've been seleced whatever the situation with the others. I don't like it one bit. It's a shame, because before the injury Muniesa was really starting to look like the real deal. And having someone who could bring the ball out of defence like he could was an added bonus. I'm quite happy with Wolly though. Other than the lack of pace, I can't see what's wrong with him. Looked fairly good again today and for a big guy, he is fairly good on the ball too.

I think it's actually good that he hasn't been quite at his best lately. Means we have more chance of getting him to sign a new contract.
Make no mistake, regardless of the fact that his form this season hasn't been quite as good as it was in the previous two seasons, this guy is a class goalkeeper who we will do very well to keep hold of.

I just don't get why you'd want to play a bloke who has excelled in the position he's natural to in a position he's rarely/never played in before. Again it wreaks of TP. I ain't a fan of that shit! Reading some of the pompous nonsense on that Wet Sham thread does take the piss though doesn't it? I remember when we played them our first season after promotion. We had to have dozens of police on horseback inside the stadium to stop them kicking off. Was traveling southwards after the game and stopped at a service station where two coach fulls of the cunts pulled up. I was with my brother, who was about 10 at the time (and looked about seven) but because he was wearing a Stoke shirt he had a load of them eyeballing him. That's how hard they think they are. Sure, we have some classless muppets amongs our support and sure Stoke isn't exactly a thriving cosmopolis, but I'm not taking lessons on etiquette from those hordes of twats and I certainly don't think Wet Sham fans are in a position to be taking the moral high ground when it comes to this sort of thing. They're deluded into thinking that because they live in Larndarn and they have a few more fans than we do that they have a God given right to talk down to us. They need to seriously get over themselves. This isn't an issue of how another club is viewing us and what they have done in the past. It is an issue of the standards we should set for ourselves and self-governance, and quite frankly, singing a song about a deceased inspirational figure being fucked by a perverted nonce who probably fucked his own mother's corpse falls a long way short of any basic human decency. Agreed, but my point was more about some of the nonsense posted on that Wet Sham thread that was put on here.

I don't think it's necessarily shoehorning though. It's not the same as trying to convert Ryan Shotton into a winger is it?
Muniesa is clearly the kind of bloke he can play in multiple positions. He's more than capable playing fullback. In terms of his ability on the ball, he's more than capable of playing CM. Can't see what we have to lose in trying him in that position, given that it will difficult to find a replacement for Whelan.

Bego 6: Maybe should have done better with the goal, but other than that he was decent.
Geoff 7: Not a big fan of his but he had a decent game today I thought.
Ryan 6: Fairly solid as you'd expect, but didn't actually have an awful lot to do.
Wolly 6: Likewise, looked decent on the ball as well I thought.
Wilson 5: Steady if not spectacular.
Whelan 5: Needlessly conceded the freekick that led to the goal, but put in a good shift after that.
Adam 5: Just didn't really work for him today. He is much better when playing a deeper role.
Nzonzi 7: The unsung hero today. Part of the reason we kept so much possession and were able to keep the pressure on them late on. He just kept finding gaps in the midfield and linking up play.
Moses 6: Was having a fairly good game until the injury.
Arnautovic 8-9: He was MOM before the goal. Even in the first half he was our best player. Scored a great goal and unlucky not to have had two.
Walters 4: Thought Jon was pretty poor today if I'm being honest.
Diouf 6: Put in a very good shift. Unlucky with that header.
Pieters 6: Offered us more width, but his crossing could have been better.
Ireland 5: Did okay.

I can't be arsed to dig through your old posts mate, but unless I'm getting you mixed up with someone else, I'm pretty sure you repeatedly said he was wank? I swear it was you I was having a conversation with some time ago, not long after we first signed Diouf. I was saying I would give him 10-12 games before making a judgement, and you were comparing him to Sidibe and saying he was hopeless? You did definitely say Bojan was shite though That definitely wasn't me......I don't think (I say that because I write so much so shite)! And because I do and have really liked him since his Hanover days. I say that because I've had a look for you, and I did say he was wank in 2011 based on his Blackburn days (I can't remember saying that tbh and only know I did because I've just searched it) then I watched him a lot for Hanover and really wanted him to sign because he is a bloody good striker. And I didn't say Bojan was shite. I can get you that thread too. It was a bit like this one with people making wrong conclusions left, right and centre. I said people that have watched him in recent seasons think he's been shit, I said he wasn't a coup (he wasn't), I said he's been pretty shit at Roma, Milan and Ajax (he was) so don't expect things straight off (we didn't get it straight off but sooner than I ever expected it has got to be said!). oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/232364/bojan?filters[]=post_created_by%3Aeq%3A343I actually like what I've wrote there! EDIT-not sure if you can see what is from 11th July there..... oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/232364/bojan?filters[]=post_created_by%3Aeq%3A343&filters[]=post_created_on%3Aon%3A2014-07-11My apologies mate, I'm getting you mixed up with someone else giving Diouf a hard time early days I think. On Bojan though... oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/234697/wanna-set-straightIn fairness, you do say you hope he proves you wrong.

How come a blocked shot doesn't count as a shot on target, but a shot saved by a keeper does? If a shot beats a keeper only to be cleared by a defender on the line, does it count as a shot on target? I think different people have different rules for that. So our stats are always different on BBC if your compare them with Sky for instance. Dunno what people on here are moaning about though. We were away from home, up against a team that will be challenging us for a top ten spot. We battled to the end and got the least we deserved, which was a point. It definitely helps us having that possession in my opinion. Part of the reason West Ham couldn't score a second was because they didn't have the ball. When they won it back they just gave it straight to us and we kept the pressure on. With Diouf's header off the post and Arnie's offside goal, we could have easily won that one.

You're either winding me up or that's the dementia talking Nope. I watched a lot of him at Hanover and wanted us to sign him because he's what we need. And I think he's shown that to be the case, he just needs a run of games up front now. I can't be arsed to dig through your old posts mate, but unless I'm getting you mixed up with someone else, I'm pretty sure you repeatedly said he was wank? I don't think the motivation has dropped, it was just the quality of the final ball that was missing.
We bossed most of the second half. That equaliser was coming. Scored in the last minute and it was wrongly ruled offside. Scored again in the fifth minute of stoppage time... sort of suggests they are still plenty motivated to me.

Adam was disappointing today I thought, but how do you drop a bloke who has just scored from inside his own half against one of the best keepers in the world? Pretty easily. He was fucking awful that game. Yeah I know. Strange that. Scores goal of the season but otherwise he was useless.

Post by philm87 on Apr 11, 2015 16:11:19 GMT
Yeah lets sack him. Or he could just go back to what he was doing so well and playing players that fit his system and fit the way we play. Adam clearly doesn't and we're accommodating him in the side for some God forsaken reason that hinders the team. Wilson over Pieters is just strange. And Walters starting up front today is just strange too. But it's a continuation of strange decisions from him since the WBA game. We need to back to what made us so good. 4-2-3-1 with pace in the side and a genuine attacking midfielder in the middle of the 3 and full backs. Actually I think you are probably right there. I think he will go back to that now. Arnie on the left cutting in, Ireland through the middle, either Diouf or Walter on the right. Crouch or Diouf up top. Keep the same team for now until the end of the season, injuries permitting, and we can get some more rhythm going forward.

Wonder if he would be better playing behind the striker, he can get past people but his crossing has been rubbish. Goes into the middle and he has had three chances. I can't see why not. His crossing is usually one of his strong points though.

It's a disaster for us.
We are only 10th now, with 7 games to go. We might even end up beating last season's points tally despite a severe injury crisis. Definitely need to spend big in the summer.
I could be celebrating a brilliant last minute equaliser from Arnie, instead I am sitting here in puddle of my own piss watching Crystal Palace.

Definitely MOM today.
That other goal wasn't offside either. He was behind the ball. Showed character for him to carry on like that and produce a great finish when we needed it.
