Just like Stevens has, J Rod would not be coming here for pittance. He'd probably be coming as one of the best paid players at the club.

Yeah, I was going to come on to make the same point, however, I think his point may be that they steadied the ship with draws and their more recent form is better than ours which is probably right. Definitely much of a muchness though, and Schumacher overall has a better record in terms of points gained. I would suggest our form/performances have probably been more erratic than Blackburn's. Eustace has had less time than Schumacher to turn things round and yes my point was that he started by making them hard to beat and they are coming into good form at the right time. We are still a bit of a soft touch and our performances are still erratic. If you asked me which manager is better equipped to deal with a relegation battle I'd still say Eustace. The problem is there were people who didn't think we were a relegation threatened team when Schumacher was appointed and it was just a matter of steering them to a top half finish. If that were the case then Schumacher was a decent choice but it wasn't. We were in a relegation battle and we needed a manager with a track record of knowing what to do in a relegation battle. Schumacher is winging it, Eustace knows what he is doing. So by your logic, John Eustace's record of knowing what to do in a relegation battle, was from when he "winged it" last season (when they finished on 53 points, the same as Stoke) because he'd had no experience of one before then, if indeed that even was really a relegation battle?

Good post. I'll caveat it by adding that any manager is a risk. We've had wet behind the ears to experienced. All failed/struggled, so suggests it's very hard job for any manager. Who was available at the time to replace the lamentable Alex Neil (who was experienced btw) Yes all new managers are a risk but lack of experience of dealing with a bad situation just makes the appointment even higher risk. Not an exciting appointment but I would have gone for John Eustace - been there done that at Birmingham and was sacked for no good reason when near the top of the league - and look where they are now. Doing a decent job in similar circumstances at Blackburn having taken over later than Schumacher. Eustace started by making Blackburn hard to beat and they are going into the business end of the season in good form while we are treading water with no consistency in terms of starting 11, formation or level of performance. I know who I would prefer in charge at this points of the season when you need to grind out results. In the last 10 games Stoke Won 3 Drawn 3 Lost 4 Points 12 Blackburn Won 2 Drawn 5 Lost 3 Points 11 Eustace total blackburn record Played 14 won 2 drawn 8 lost 4 Points 14

In the very early 70's I was on the board of Bursough Fc and it was mandatory for semi professional clubs, even at that North West Counties level, to have insurance for all players, even those being paid just travelling expenses. Money was always tight at that level but player insurance was one of the things that we always ensured was covered as a priority. For Stoke City, allegedly, not to be doing this 50 years on for a team playing, under their stewardship, is an absolute outrage. I do not for one minute believe that Stoke will not do the right thing and help get this lady sorted and supported. Even a bucket collection at the next two home games would help considerably, if the ladies team could organise it. It's been announced they're going to cover her costs

some people on here think the women should be eternally grateful to even get a chance of having a kickaround in the red and white stripes... she was wearing our colours when she got injured we should have a responsibility for her. That's a difference discussion to whether you don't watch women's football, or whatever. Rightly or wrongly, it seems it's an issue throughout women's football though, not just Stoke. From what I can see, clubs at that level don't cover players.

AFter the awful PR disaster of the national media exposing the weaknesses of SCFC's women's structure last year, you would expect absolutely every single micro-detail to be in place, and money spent accordingly to do this. Indeed, we aren't talking a substantial amount. Where they play and if they are medically covered are surely two huge questions that would have been sorted straight away? Most of the women's squad live a fair distance away, so its staggering that cover isn't provided along with a raft of other logistical offerings? From what I'm reading, seems like the medical cover or lack of should I say, is common within the women's game at this level. Where they play is a joke but is being addressed isn't it? albeit should've probably happened by now as it was 12 months ago when the Norton issues went viral.

I'd be amazed if it says that to be honest as even an under 8 academy player gets sorted after an injury. Even if it doesn't, questions need to be asked why semi-professional footballers aren't insured by clubs giving contracts when they work elsewhere. Non-league do. Yeah they probably should but if they don't and the players will know this when they sign, I'm sorry you can't come begging if/when you get injured, you knew the risks, just like anybody that has played sunday football down the years has. From reading her post, the issue is the NHS, not the club. Yet people have jumped on the bandwagon and using it as another stick to beat the club with. If they haven't broken contract, then they've done nothing wrong in this case.

They aren't professionals. It's surely no different to if I broke my leg playing on a sunday? They'll be contracted mate and in the contract it must state that no medical bills due to injury will be footed by the club then? You can't willingly sign a contract, then cause a massive uproar when something like this happens just because it's a multi-million pound football club. My mate at work fell in his back garden last week, broke his leg and ruptured ligaments, is going to be off work for 8-12 weeks and will only receive stat sick pay. It's just the way it is sometimes, he's not moaning about it because he knew when he too the job that we don't pay sick pay.

I still feel Iverson is not the one we need in goal - the number of times he should have (note: not should of) come out when the ball was floated in to our 6 yard area was criminal. Even their (not There) goal could have been avoided if Iverson had been more assertive and got to the ball and just punched it away - then of course we had two defenders turning their backs on the SW player who scored with a cross shot. Definitely room for improvement and maybe we go for Travers because for me Iverson is no better than Bonham. Sorry but the lack of English grammar on this forum is shocking. Bonham doesn't save the chance early in the first half. In fact there's been quite a number of saves recently that Bonham gets nowhere near. This idea that Iversen is no better is frankly laughable.

Gayle, Wes, Campbell & Clark all off the wage bill and all reported high earners.
Our net spend last summer wasn't massive given what we got in for Brown & Tymon.
There will definitely be money to spend.

I'm slightly worried they played at home on Tuesday night whereas we had a long trip to Swansea on Wednesday, in awful conditions too.
How does that work that Sheff get a nice home game a full 24 hours before we have to travel 4 hours away for an away game.

We never ever look like scoring with Ennis on the pitch.
He needs to find a way of making the ball stick up front by Saturday.

Bad luck really and hopefully it doesn't affect us too much. Has showed better recently and hopefully a good preseason will help him get better. Whilst he was on the naughty step his replacements were more than able, so we should be OK. We do need to look at all these strains, too many seem to be happening. With all due respect a good preseason doesn’t make players better only fitter. He is not going to get faster, run the channels better, or chase defenders down . He will hopefully 3/4 choice striker next season as he’s under contract. With all due respect, that's not what we need a striker to do in this system. That's what Ennis does when he plays and we looking awfully toothless. We create so many more chances and look a lot more dangerous in attack when Mmaee plays, because he brings the wide forwards and attacking mid in to the game. We don't want him chasing lost causes.

Too fucking right we shouldn’t let him go. The problem is, we're going to have to do without him at some point - due to military service. At best, it might be a shorter period, but there's no way he'll be let off completely. An Olympic medal grants exemption from the military service. He also doesn't have to complete it until he's 28, he's only going to be at this club for another 12-24 months max anyway, so it will probably never be our problem.

It's that time of year again. The build up this week has been really interesting with some excellent interviews and press conferences. I have been watching for years and never realised untill Tiger said yesterday "It's a really tough and tiring walk. Basically you are playing on the side of a hill".!! The competition starts on the back nine on Sunday was another thought that struck me.It's been over by the time the leaders got on the back 9 the last couple of years. We haven't had a proper good sunday since 2019.

Really? He has had one decent game In your opinion. In mine we look a lot more creative when he is on the pitch, both before and after the alleged spat. I think he's had more than one good game. This is the big issue now, Ennis is the type of striker you bring on when winning, to see the game out because he will press and put a big tackle in, unfortunately he doesn't look very good starting as he's constantly chasing the ball due to his touch. Campbell just always looks a bit lost playing through the middle. Wesley seems completely out of it but given we need someone up there that makes it stick and brings others in, to be at our most effective, do we give him one last throw of the dice? It would be desperation but Ennis/Campbell simply don't work. The only other option is trying one of the wingers through the middle, could Vidigal do it? could Leris do it maybe? he wins headers and puts as much of a shift in as Ennis. Jesus I'm clutching now

I think whenever Priest cashes in, Dom will cost him the win which will be the final nail and see him exiled from Judgement Day, freeing him up to join/create a new Latino faction. I think his recent link up with Santos is the beginning of this. Rhea's become too much of a face now to be in Judgement day too and since Priest won MITB, they've signed Punk and Drew has got red hot on this heel run. So it only really leaves them the option of Priest cashing in on Gunther or botching a World title cash in imo. There’s a few factors behind the scenes, Drew Rollins & Lynch contracts are up shortly after WM. I think it was Raw a week ago where they Easter egged a MITB cash in. Re the tag titles I agree they will be split but I’m not sure who will take them? As far as the other matches go, other than Ripley Lynch (maybe Bailey Sky) I don’t have a clue which way they could go? I’m looking for to this WM, especially as it’s HHH’s first WM show in charge. If they let Drew go now, they'll have fucked it big time. This heel run has been his best work to date, it's been fantastic to watch. The "freakin" gimmick for Rollins has gone a bit stale now anyway, tbh I think his music was move over than he's ever been . I do think all 3 will sign new deals, Becky has been brilliant the last few months too but can see why maybe her and Seth would leave for a break and some time with littl'un.

I have nothing against Walters, he seems like a decent chap, but I do worry that he's not properly qualified for such a role and he does seem to cosy and happy to blow smoke up JC's and the families arse at every possible opportunity. Not to say he wouldn't do a good job.. He is qualified though, he's done his qualifications.

The last two editions of RAW have been bloody, brutal and very sweary. The Attitude Era or something very similar is here again and I am all for it.
