Seen as it comes out at midnight, I thought I might share some tips I've worked out from the demo.
Stoke
Get rid of: Leon Cort, Richard Cresswell, Amdy Faye, Andrew Davies
Sign: Radek Sirl, Jonathan Spector, Juliano Belletti, Kevin Thomson, Ben Alnwick
Set the aim as a mid-table position and go on the transfer budget thing on the board room page and set the transfer budget to maximum. Do whatever you can to offload Cresswell & Davies - the others you will definately get money for - AD & RC need getting off the wage bill in anyway possible.
Don't faff around with the new tactics thing - it's overcomplicated and doesn't work. Set the playing style to Balanced and set the mentality (or whatever it is called) to Control. Play 4-4-2.
Sorensen
Belletti (Spector is JB not fit) Faye Huth Sirl (Higgy when RS injured)
Lawrence Whelan Thomson Etherington
Fuller Beattie
Bring Shawcross in when Huth isn't playing well, bring Delap in when Whelan/Thomson aren't playing well, and Higgy & Spector when Sirl & Belletti aren't playing well.
Set the full backs to automatic, Lawrence to "wide midfield" attacking, Whelan to "centre midfielder" and support, Thomson to "centre midfielder" and defend, Etherington to "winger" and attacking. Play the widemen in the right/left midfield positions, but Ethers will act like a winger if set to without changing position and compromising tracking back. Play Fuller on the right and Beattie on the left upfront, both as "advanced striker (might be advanced forward - can't remember)" and set as attacking.
Add in Tuncay when the wingers/strikers aren't playing well, but have faith in BT & Fuller - they got me 27 goals by the end of December.
Set the advanced team instructions as slightly deep defensive line, wide width, quick tempo, focus passing down both flanks, more direct passing and counter attacking. Set throws to long and set Rory and Juliano Belletti to take them from both sides. Set Beattie as the freekick taker from both sides. He scores loads of direct freekicks - absolute thunderbolts.
Add in Tom Soares if Liam is knackered or playing shit on the right - his good pace is helpful for this playing style.
Set the touchline instructions to "get ball forward".
Set the opposition instructions at the start. Set all opposing strikers to "weaker foot" and tackling "hard". Set all opposing midfielders to "weaker foot" tackling "hard" closing down "always" and for dangerous/good/creative/technical players eg Lampard, Gerrard, Kranjcar etc to tight marking "always". Never set pacy players to tight marking "always" as they will rip you apart.
That's all I can think of at the moment. This strategy got me to 7th in the league with 31 points by the end of the demo (2nd Jan) and Beattie and Fuller were both on fire.
