Right then ... bit of a problem.. three of us, all season ticket holders flying to Bali for a couple of weeks on Friday, land Jakarta Sat evening, have a choice of a connecting flight to Bali or a night in Jakarta and maby watch the match in Jakarta ??? is the match on in Jakarta if so where????? we will probably miss the game "IF" it is being shown live and we carry on to Bali.
As a side note is there anyone who posts on here who lives out that way who's old man is called Frank P*****y (sp)and used to drive a wagon as his job in Stoke and you won a bit of money for you on the pitch a year or three ago if so get in touch

It takes a couple of hours to drive into Jkt at night from the airport (weather permitting). The footie will be on the TV in most decent hotel I'd reckon and there are plenty of sports bars in the city that'll have it on. But - if you are NOT familiar with Jakarta then be advised it is wise to either get good directions from someone who knows where to go and a hotel car or good taxi company (Silverbird or Bluebird when I used to visit Jkt but that is several years ago now).

Jakarta will def have it on in some of the bars, but would agree get everything sorted in advance. Jakarta is not the tourist hotspot that bali is. Have a mate who lives there and will email him for advice.

thanks for the replies guys, am looking at the moment to possibly stop at the airport hotel as it looks hassle free after a long journey and take it from there, any other info would be appreciated.

Sheraton Bandara: www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=107 It's a good hotel - I've used it a few times - but obviously near the airport it is 'quiet and polite' not a place for late night mischief. (But, saying that...). Jakarta is a f' good night out - but if you don't know the score then it is potentially dangerous. If you have got mates in town to help or you are familiar then all is cool. But if you are fresh off the boat then be cautious.

Get yourself into Jakarta . The hotel Aryaduta for about $80 for the room. Sports bar and within the hotel. Most hotels will have the Premiership on. Simply ask the concierge for advice they will tell you. If you come out the airport (no hotel on site) they will charge $25 for a visa which will carry over to Bali. If you decide to stay as a previous stokie advised catch a "blue or silver bird taxi" only. You can't miss the bluebird taxi office as you come out of the final exit doors. Can't remember the phrase now but as soon as you get there learn how to say "No thanks to much" ;D terimekasi is thank you PS: Bintang (beer) varies 1 bottle has no strength, another can blow yer head off I will be there next May Love Jakarta Love Bali.......Enjoy the people are great
