I'm a big fan of Wilko, but he's not a future England international.
But I suppose if Phil Neville or Danny Mills can play for England ...

Wilkos light years off england quality
mind you, so are Cole and Johnson too (IMHO)

The last thing we want to hear from away supporters is "If Wilko plays for England So can I"
He's a million miles away from England standard.

right back is a problem for England
Johnson despite improving defensively is still a worry sometimes although overall he is a ceetainty to start
after that,& assuming we will take 1 more RB who goes to SA?
G Neville - isnt playing W Brown - isnt playing & shit & ginger M Richards - can cover two positions but is years away from being a quality CB (he will get there one day if he learns, only 21 still). RB he doesnt play there anymore so difficult to argue he should play a World Cup there even as cover.
er....
Young at Villa (cant even remember his 1st name so that sums his chances up).
er....
struggle isnt it?
if (IF) Owen Hargreaves gets fit & plays well (its only October so he may do) then maybe he could go as cover for RB,RM,CM & even LB but its perhaps as likely that he wont play 10 games by May.

Jageilka is out for the season isnt he?
& again when has he played RB in the prem?
Warnock is decent but again has he ever played RB?

Wilko would get sent off every game anyroad!
can you imagine Stoke in Europe we'd never finish a game with 10 men,the refs would dish the cards out.

1 top game? He's been playing well for a year now and should imo start at right back.
As for England that's just daft but with the state of English right backs, You could make a decent argument for him.

He's not even on Capello's radar. would need to make immense improvement to distribution.Fabio will never accept the ball just hoofed forward and for all his defensive qualities Wilko cannot bring the ball out of defence effectively

His name is Luke. Wilko isn't anywhere near the England squad; until this week, he couldn't get into our team. I agree that it is a problem position now that Gary Neville isn't what he was, but Micah Richards should probably be challenging Johnson; who is suspect defensively. I'm all for bigging up our own players, and am a big fan of Wilko; but we shouldn't go nuts.

are there really that many right backs in the country that are better than wilko at defending ? At international level full backs need to do more than just defend though. I'm also struggling to think of any RB's he's better at going forwards. The days where full backs just defend has gone and in all top teams they play a vital part going forwards supporting the wide players and stretching defenders. As yet Wilko can't do that.
