One of the most frustrating things as a school pupils was me 'being' a Stoke player (Biggins, Beeston, Butler(!), Stein), and many of my mates 'being' Mark Hughes, Ian Rush, Gary Lineker, et al.
The more children who grow up as Stoke fans the better; whether it is because we are in The Premiership or not. They are our future season ticket holders.

It doesn't really matter if a kid changes their mind. The majority (all) make their choices based on the influence of role models, peers and TV.
Before Stoke got promoted, more of the children in my class started to like Stoke - purely because I forced Stoke City upon them. Then some could see their friends becoming little Stoke fans, so they did likewise. After promotion we get on match of the day, etc, which inturn influences more.
Many as a child are not true supporters of any team. If there are no influences at home (such as I had to force me towards Stoke); they can only make their decisions based, as I said, on other role models, peers and TV. So it is only natural that the more highly publicised teams are followed by the youngsters!
It is fantastic that we are now much more in the public eye (both locally and nationally) and I would not hold anything against a young person for becoming a Stokie.
However, I don't understand how any adult who has proclaimed an interest or enthusiasm for any other team can just change allegiance.

Don't forget its made it a hell of a lot easier for Dad's like me to get their kids interested in Stoke now they are in the Prem.
My lad is 14, and been going since he was about 9. To be honest he wasn't that interested when he was younger, and who knows, he might have stopped going as he got older. Now he loves it, and is definitely in the majority in his class.
We love our match days, and we also watch MOTD together. It'll probably only go on for a year or so, but it might not have happened at all if we weren't in The Prem.
I think he's got the bug now, and will always be a Stoke supporter. As I remember my heroes as a kid, Greenhoff, Hudson, Smith, Conroy et al, he will always remember Fuller, Beattie, Abdo and Liam.
