... is a blessing in disguise IMO!
While he didn't look as defensively dodgy yesterday as he usually does, its pretty clear he offers less than nothing going forwards. In fact, unless there was a corner, I don't think he crossed the half-way line!
Danny Collins showed definite improvement yesterday, both defensively and offensively, linking play and getting involved. Huth unfortunately continues to look like exactly what he is: a lumbering, immobile centre-half trying to fill-in in an unfamiliar position.
I just hope Tone rewards Wilko for what will be (almost certainly!) another very solid three outings in place of Huth by retaining his place!
Goooaaaarn Wilko!

True of course, we've got Wilko to bring in. Never really lets us down.

Huth unfortunately continues to look like exactly what he is: a lumbering, immobile centre-half trying to fill-in in an unfamiliar position. That's what I've seen too to tell you the truth. A class centre back for sure but his positional sense in the right back position is extremely worrying. Wilko had a mare at WHL last season, let's hope there's an improved showing from him this time around.

Agreed, Huth and Collins are centre halves and it shows. Granted they were better yesterday but too many times they are caught square on and static. Full backs have to be side on for me. An example of this yesterday, a ball played in behind huth and he turned like a buss because of his positioning. Collins was bailed out by shawcross, again to static and square, Cole easily turned him and would have scored had it not been for Ryan. I would much prefer Wilko and Higgy in the team. Having said that, Wilkos performance at Spurs last season is enough to worry me shitless!

i think your caption quote thing says it all really though as great as it would be for huth to at least give it a go in a position that's not particularly his favoured (especially when there's someone who can do it better on the bench), he's still doing an alright job. he's scored one for us. he's slapped upson in the face. what else do you want him to do this early on in a new position at a new club? (other than run up the field more. obvz) but yeh if he get's suspended, then wilko's going to be bang up for it. and knowing tone and his tactics, if collins goes on the right and higgy's in, then he'll be up for it instead. at least we've got decent options now

and knowing tone and his tactics, if collins goes on the right and higgy's in, then he'll be up for it instead. Now you've got me worried ... I hadn't for a moment considered that he might decide to do that. Considering that Collins hasn't ever played right back in his life then that would be an extremely poor decision from the manager imo.
