They seemed to be purring about it on P & G after the match but I didn't think it was anything special to be honest.
Some of the passion does appear to have seeped from our support and I really hope it doesn't go away altogether.
Don't get me wrong, there were a few good, noisy chants but it wasn't one to make hairs on the back of your neck stand up, was it?

Agree - Desperate for new songs though to be fair after the first 45 minutes noone booed when frankly I could have understood if a few did.

I said earlier on knowles,
We're suffering from second season syndrome by the sounds of it!

I thought 1st half was pretty good.
First 10-15 mins of the second half was very flat until it seemed the whole crowd stood up at the same time and said "Push out press them for fucks sake". ;D
Tommy then took a very quick short free kick to Collins and things seemed to improve from there with the play and the crowd.

It doesn't seem as loud as at times last season. I think that's inevitable because at times last season it really was a siege mentality. You're never going to have quite the same mentality as nobody has really written Stoke off this season.
Supporters and players react to each other. It was pretty flat in the first half as there was little to get excited about. In the second half there was a roar for the players to up the tempo and I thought they responded to it. I think in that respect I think the players still react to the atmosphere when they're up against it.

At kick off it was stale and that imo was down to the team news.
It picked up as we started really well and then scored.
Then they came back into with a mix of good passing and Diao and Whitehead playing centre half. The crowd quietened with the goal.
Then came the second half and I thought the crowd tried their utmost to push the midfield up and it worked for a while.
It was much better in the second half and we (the crowd) wanted the win as we realised that they were shite.
In the end it was a decent atmosphere, not great but we did play our part in trying to get the players up the pitch and going for the win.

Pre match today was absolute shite - Complete balls up and gave you absolutely no excitement. They even cut off the foo fighters vid for the bloody eminem tune far too soon.
At least the players gave us something to shout about (first 15 mins anyway). The rest of the first half was frustrating.
Second half was loads better and overall I think the atmosphere was pretty good today!

I still think if you go to the game knowing Lenny, Tuncay, Kitson (and for many Whelan ) are on the bench you go already slightly deflated. If we had the same team but those subs were swapped for Cresswell, Dickinson and Pericard then it's a lot 'easier' to get really up for it.

There was a very different atmosphere in the first half to what was generated last season. It seemed to me that where last season the fans drove the team on, today we began to get on their backs, waiting for mistakes and for players to fail, rather than working to lift them. Fortunately in the second half, fans and team united again and we started to recreate last season.

we ended the game with a better team than what started it. To win with that is like a get out of jail card, to be honest.

was thinkin the same as beardy earlier - TP has to meet fans half way by playing a team that will excite. Fair play, we won today but fans also want to see the flair players.

Must admit that when I got there after a 3 hour shitty drive and saw the team it was hard to work up some enthusiasm which is VERY unusual for me.
I want to see our best players not just those that 'werk aarrdd'

As i've always said though mate, give him a bit of time and movement off the ball he's a really nice little player (in fact i've described him as the complete all-round midfielder on his very best days). For some strange reason that i don't truly understand today, West Ham gave him acres of space when he came on. I wasn't quite sure what they were doing to be honest. The last 10 minutes was almost as if they didn't realise they were losing as they barely pressed anyone and i was expecting the usual alamo. He got his time so he could get his head up a bit more and suddenly he looks like a player but i would say it was West Ham's lack of pressing rather than Glenn doing anything special to find space. So ...... impact sub it is from now on then. ;D

Then again in my mind Whitehead is now 5th choice for a central midfield spot.

Oh when the reds was the best song today in the second half, but i think that was loud more out of anger than anything.

The one's who moan about the atmosphere are usually ones who don't start songs or join in unless at least 30+ are singing.

What really disappointed me is that people on here have said that it's a two way thing etc etc.
Well the team started out really well, got a goal and were all over them for the first 15 minutes. We just needed that extra bit of encouragement to keep it up. So what did the fans do? Shut up. Barely a peep. I could understand us being subdued at the start of the match, but the team performed above expectations and we gave them nothing in return. For about half an hour you could have been standing in the middle of a field. 4/10 at best.
Second half it was quiet but then we started to roar the team on and we got our composure back a bit. Then the bloody ridiculous happened. We put together a decent move involving the central midfielders and it went out for a goal kick. Idiots all over the place started chanting for Whelan. Not Lawrence, who would have made the difference. Not Kitson for the flagging Beattie. Glenn bloody Whelan. How fantastic that must have felt for the players on the pitch. They had a very good first half, just put together a good move and the fans start calling for Glenn Whelan? Happily, the atmosphere picked back up again from about 10 minutes before we scored, better overall in the second half. 6/10.
I don't like having rants like this about Stoke fans, but I felt compelled to tonight, it was really disappointing.
