Thank f**k the International Weekend has ended and we can now look forward to Saturday and a proper Match Day again!
Hopefully Lenny and Glenn’s performances for Ireland has given Tone the nudge needed for them to be included from the start again West Ham. This is a game we need to be targeting all 3 points from. We shouldn’t be complacent, underestimate them or expect an easy 3 points but it IS a game we need to be positive in and go out on the front foot from the start.
Hopefully Whelan will be restored to the centre of midfield. It doesn’t really matter who it is at the expense of, we just need his creativity in the middle. I’d personally go with Delap in the middle with him but I’d assume Diao will also be on Tone’s radar for that position (also Whitehead is another option). We also need Lenny starting on the right as opposed to Delap. Nothing against Rory, but we need our best wide men starting this match and we need to go at West Ham from the off.
The back 5 pretty much picks itself so that just leaves the front 2. On current form you’d have to say Kitson should in the frame for a start and then you’ve got Fuller and Tuncay to be considered. Any 2 of those 3 I’d be happy with but personally I’d like to see Tuncay given a start however I’m not holding my breath after the international break (lets hope all our players return not too tired from their exertions!!).
I’d go: -
---------------Tommy---------------
-Huth----Ryan---------Abdy----Collins--
-Lenny----Glenn----Delap-----Ethers--
----------Fuller----Kits/Tunc----------

Certainly don't see Lenny making the starting eleven, not with the now "from out of nowhere, Match fit" Salif Diao and the fact that Lenny will no doubt be playing on Wednesday!!!

The back 5 pretty much picks itself I wish it didn't. I was hoping to see a change at left back.

Agreed - read that as somewhat as a plea to TP
Hope he reads the Sentinel

I really hope Lenny gets a start on Satdee, even if he plays on Wednesday. After all TP started Kitson after he'd played 120 mins against Leyton Orient midweek (and Dublin really isn't that far to travel).

The “not fit” card doesn’t pass now.
Not after Diao walked back into the team after a 10 year absence through injury.

The "not fit" argument is a load of bollocks. Same with the Tunch.
I think I'm getting withdrawal symptoms with the lack of action and I cannot wait.

The not fit argument was made invalid and bollocks about 2 years ago, that's why I never believe it when he says it.

As you rightly say WD, we've got to target three points. West Ham on paper are our equals, but form-wise they are down in the dumps so we've got to be looking to drink their milkshake. For me that means playing two proper wide players (ie no delap on the wings).
Personally i'd go with last season's midfield four of liam, matty, delap and whelan, who were also our middle 4 in our most impressive performance of this season against sunderland. TP might be reluctant to play LL given he will play midweek, in which case he will probably put delap wide right, although personally i think he should play tuncay there instead of LL if he really must.
Delap will play for the throws which are effective at home, so the only way all three of delap whitehead and diao can start is if both liam and whelan are left out.
Up front simply has to be Ric and Kitson for me, but will probably be beattie and ric.

Why would Beattie even be considered?

Well if TP plays Beattie, Diao, Woody and Delap out right at the expense of Kitson, Lenny and Whelan then I will be a tad upset
Faye and Huth will walk back in team (thank goodness) after mid week trips, so why not Lenny and Whelan (who doesnt even play)
Personally I would also go with Tuncay with Matty as back up (as WHU had Matty in their back pocket last tim), but TP will play Matty because it is an old team thing

That'd be my team, not sure that will happen. Can see it being a strange line up/formation

I think using Tuncay as the home left winger is the way forward. On the tighter pitch he will be of more value than Ethers imo. Ethers as he showed at Everton on a bigger pitch is a real threat.

Exactly what we were syaing - the pitch at our place actually works against Matty - looked a better player at Goodison. Tuncay would have the extra bit of trickery and then can be replaced by Matty when knackered, who witha fresh pair of legs would probably have more space against knackered defenders and wingers

I have to agree with most of the above sentiments. I’d be pretty gutted if Lenny and Whelan miss out at the expense of Whitehead, Diao and/or Delap out wide.
You’ve got to go with your best players in these types of games. I know people will say “Tone knows what he’s doing so shut the fuck up” but it’s a no-brainer; you go with your strongest line-up.
Zola will be loving it if instead of having to deal with Whelan, Lenny, Tuncay and Kitson, he’s up against Whitehead, Diao, BT and Delap.
I don’t want to knock the above mentioned players, especially BT and Delap. I won’t knock anyone who steps out in the Red and White but we’ve got to be starting our better players for me.
We need to go with an attacking line-up IMO instead of a “lets restrict them from playing” team.

When have we been in this sort of position before? Not since the 70's have we had this many options, and you could argue, we have even more now than then! Goaaarn Stoke

Agree WD!
Lets fookin bully em and get right in their faces from the off! I think the game against Manure was a one-off, it's the first game since we came up when we haven't looked up for a fight at home!
But as someone else has already said, it's not the games against the Big 4 which are important, it's the games like Sat! That said, I know loads of Fookin Mancs, who I want to shove the smiles up their arses!
