What was the single biggest factor in getting us to the Prem?
I'll go first.
Pete's money.
Second biggest factor, Tony Pulis.
Third, the crowd.
Fourth, Ricardo Fuller and Mama Sidibe.
Fifth, that barmy bloke who kick started the whole shebang with his threatened protest. ;D

The manager.
Like it or not mate. Plenty of managers have had money and failed - Pulis himself did it at other clubs.

Macari did a brilliant job with the resources he had at Stoke - TWICE. It would have been great to have seen him backed by the club. Saying that I don't feel sorry for him at all, he had his time and moved on.

Pity he got no backing though. His teams really did mix it up well and he knew how to spot a striker. PS Spot of self-adoration there, Stafford perhaps? ;D

Spot a striker does that include Keith Scott? Yes, same way as someone spotted Lee Mills.

Scott was the worst Stoke striker I've seen. Worse than Lightbulb even. Worse than David Herd. Worse than Paul Randall. Add Lee Mills to that lot. ;D

Pugsley i'm not having ago mate about super lou because i thought he was great for us and when he left for Celtic i was absolutely gutted just pointing out to the old fool that he did sign lethal keith. As for Lee Mills yes i agree on that one but he did score a fantastic goal at Norwich which made a long journey home abit more enjoyable.

You may not be having a go but in every post you make it seems that you MUST get Pulis 'one up' on every other manager on the planet. We get it mate - you adore the bloke. Every manager signs crap players and Pulis's charge sheet is as long as anyones.

Lee Hendrie deserves a mention. Certainly not the single biggest factor, but he was the catalyst for everything to snowball into what it is today.

What was wrong with Paul Randell?....I thought him and Des Bacos more than made up for the loss of Ritchie and Greenhoff

Muttley, I think that game was at the baseball ground (?) if so i remember reading one of the best misprints in the paper the following day, it went something like " ....and Scott drifted past two players before screwing his shit past the post"

It was at the bbg and as i remember there was alot of trouble after that match as well as normally happened at Derby. Was the misprint on about Geoff Scott then?

From memory I think so,I still chuckle about it.The Stoke following that day must have been somewhere between 8 and 10,000.A brick passed so close to my head coming out of the ground that it ruffled my hair!

dc we used to have some great games with Derby especially the one at their ground in the season they won the league when Greenhoff scored the winner in that mudbath.
