Well we have a strategy of "parking the bus" against the big clubs. We now have a "big 5" with Man City. That's 10 games as season - so we can expect to see the same approach for ONE IN FOUR games (and that's ignoring the likes of Vila, Spurs & Everton).
This is going to starting affecting the team's confidence.

I agree mate. Then again so would getting battered by them. Add tough trips to Spurs, Villa and Everton to the mix and it puts a lot of emphasis on beating the teams around us and needed to pick up many more away points.

But where's the evidence that we would be battered by these teams if we did anything other than defend at all costs?
Just because other teams lose 5 or 6 nil, doesn't mean that we would.
There is absolutely no reference point for any Stoke City team under Tony Pulis being hammered because we play too open. Even when we play our normal 4-4-1-1 system and we press teams and get the ball forward quickly you can't describe us as being too open, so I don't understand why people automatically assume that fans who aren't happy with negativity simply want us to pour forward like Keegan's Newcastle entertainers team?
The only time that Stoke have really "gone for it" in the Premier League is during the second half at Newcastle and the last ten minutes at Villa last season when we rescued a point after negative tactics and poor team selection led us to being 2-0 down.

So far "parking the bus" against Man Yoo and Chelsea has seen us concede more goals against them at home than playing 4-4-1-1 did last season when we had a weaker team.
