I went to the Man City v Fulham game last night with a friend who is a City Season ticket holder. This is the third time I’ve been to Eastland’s and each time I’ve been surprised at how poor the fans are in regard to being vocal. Admittedly it was a Worthless Cup game, however the fans were silent, no songs just the odd rant at the ref. It makes me realise how good Stoke fans are (even when we are quieter than normal) and how the Britannia is a real cauldron of sound! The City of Manchester stadium is impressive but it isn’t a football ground in the true sense, far too ‘clean’ and commercial, even more than the other ‘new’ sterile breed of ground, a far cry from the crumbling Maine Road. The Brit has its faults but it does retain a sense of character and belonging, something clearly lacking at the blue half of Manchester. The game was pretty dull, City look to have a good player in De Jong. Bellamy looked very good as did Barry. One thing about City is their lack of height. I really feel Stoke have nothing to fear with these two sides.
