My good lady's phone is due an upgrade, and apart from making calls and texting, she uses it to take pictures of the boys. That said, she gets completely wound up by the time it takes to actually take the photo from the point it has focused until the photo is actually taken.
I know camera phones will always suffer more shutter lag than a dedicated digital camera, (and even some of them are pants), but does anyone know if there are any phones out there that have a chance of taking a pic of my kids, when they are actually smiling for a nano second?
She currently has a Sony C902 with 5 mega pixels.

Thanks for the heads up on the C905. The Pixon looks the business but it's well past what I'm willing to pay for my wife's phone. I guess it's beggers can't be choosers this time. Although I might stretch to an LG Renoir.

There are plenty of camera phones that take decent pictures, however I struggle to find any info on their lag times. It's no use to my wife to have a great quality pic of the kids, having missed the magic moment, two seconds after she's pressed the shutter button!

It's no use to my wife to have a great quality pic of the kids, having missed the magic moment, two seconds after she's pressed the shutter button! On your C902 use the 'best pic' function! It takes 4 pictures before you press the camera button, 1 when you press it and 4 after you've pressed the button. You can then choose which one you want to save...

But you have failed to factor in, the female, "I don't do technology, I just want to press a button, and everything should be fine" factor.

Cheers! That's exactly the kind of information I'm looking for. No problem, just check the info carefully as the C905 is quicker loading the camera up than the others, but slower at taking the picture, so maybe add up the times to see which is the lowest overall?
