Just a recap.
Published: 17 Dec 2008 EMANUEL POGATETZ fears Middlesbrough team-mate Tuncay will join Chelsea.
The Turkish hitman is rated at 8million after a stunning first half to the season.
And with Spurs tracking 12m-rated winger Stewart Downing, Boro could net a 20m windfall by cashing in on their two prize assets.
Boro skipper Pogatetz said: "Tuncay's one of our best players and I'd understand if Chelsea made a serious offer and he considered it.
"He'd have to because they can offer Champions League football and a push for a Premier League title but hopefully he'll stay.
"There's always speculation about our best players in the transfer window.
"But it's important to keep them and I am confident we can. It's not always vital we sell."
Tuncay is a stokie, Tuncay is a stokie etc.

That interview basically says that Stoke made Boro the best offer for him out of the permanent deals, and addresses the annoyance of Turkish Fener fans that he didn't come back to them by saying it was Boro's decision to only put the transfer, rather than loan, offers, in front of the player. I guess it's to keep his PR with that club sweet for a future homecoming payout when he's done with us.
Can't shed any light on 3+1
'If the English club (Boro) had looked favourably at loan deals, then Fener's offer would of course have been considered."

It'd be interesting to know how seriously Sunderland were in for him.

wasnt it something to do with having to do national service? if he signed for a turkish club he'd have been forced to do it.

Very interesting point Gilberto. They do have NS in Turkey, and I suppose the thought of shivering on some mountain on the Iraqi border made even the Brit in January seem preferable ;D
