Ricardo Fuller.. an injury prone Southampton bench-warmer for a mere 300'000.
Liam Lawrence.. a Sunderland reject for another low sum of 500'000.
The future England CB (imo) that is Ryan Shawcross for a measly 1 million.
The best CB i've ever seen at Stoke (and at most other places as well) for 2.5 million?
The commanding GK, current international and heart of our defence Thomas Sorrenson for... FREE?
Didn't he also sign Crossley? He kept us up almost singal handedly that season after promotion from Div. 2.
It's a tough choice, he's made some fucking bargains. And the list's almost endless.

BT for the timing and the impact... however, Shawcross wasn't a bad piece of business at all!

Tough call but I think Abdoulaye has to get the nod over everyone for his consistent performances last time around.

Shawcross for me too. Simply because of the player he has developed into, since he first came. Most of the others were already of a decent standard.

Taggart and Crossley.
What would another spell in the 3rd tier have done to us?

Mark Crossley, without whom, we would have been relegated back to the third tier

I think it's a three horse race between Shawcross, Abdy and Fuller, with Lawrence coming a close 4th and Tommy not far behind in 5th.

Crossley and Taggart were brilliant signings aswell, but you could say the same about Akinbiyi and how we made £850,000 out of him.

If it wasn't for the likes of Crossley and Taggart we probably wouldn't be in the premiership and we probably wouldn't have signed the liked of Tuncay, Beattie etc.

I think its amazing how much Shawcoss has come on. TP said some where earlier in the week, when Ryan first came to us he had only played for the Man United reserves a few times. Shawcross and Abdoulaye bar far.

Crossley, Abdoulaye Faye, Fuller, Shawcross, Sorensen, Lawrence, Simonsen, Hendrie (started the new era ), Diao (likewise), Delap, Sidibe, Higginbotham (first time was a snip at £225,000), Taggart, Tuncay, Beattie. My top 3: 1. Abdou (A lord for £2.25m - snip) 2. Crossley (Kept us up single handed) 3. Fuller (absolute snip)

Mark Crossley, without whom, we would have been relegated back to the third tier Crossley without doubt, and at the time Ade too, and Taggart a close third for me. These were the type of players that were the bedrock of making sure we didn't drop out of the Championship. Since then, bar a few, most have contributed massively to getting us where we are, even everyones favourite scapegoat Cresser. M

what about sidibe as i feel the team works best when he is on the pitch yes we can cope without him but we are most effective with him on the pitch.

I know Tuncay looks to be brilliant but to put him in TPs top sigings is abit stupid when he's so far done nothing ???
I forgot both Taggart and Akinbiye in my list who also made us what we are today with Crossley.

Mark Crossley. Without his heroics we wouldn't be here. Spot on. TP has improved the squad year after year. We could of made it to the Premiership years ago if the Icelandic board had the bollox to back him.
