I've poached the title of a book by former bike courier/bike journalist and general dropout Dan Walsh, but it sums up how I'm feeling about being a Stokie right now. We are riding the crest of a wave at the moment, what a fucking feeling !!!! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd see a Stoke team like this, I know the older stokies have seen teams this good before, but to anyone my age (33) or below, its a revelation. The sense of pride I get from seeing these lads lay everything on the line for the cause is immense, they would all run through brick walls for the team, and that means a fuck load. I'd rather have a squad of players like ours, than 100 Christiano Ronaldo's. to quote Alan Sugar when it comes to footballers. Try 100% , 100% of the time, and you'll get my backing. These are great, great times to be a stokie, times i honestly never thought I'd get to see. I was more than a coates and pulis sceptic when they returned, thing is I wasn't alone, a hell of a lot of people were. Those who backed them, fair enough you were right, those who say they knew this would happen. Sorry bullshit, you're not mystic meg. This may have been the plan, but plans can easily come undone, Only the wildly, madly enthusiasm of people on happy pills could have honestly believed this is where we would be 5 years down the line from the Binary season, and I don't actually think they exist amongst the usually masocistic ranks of the stoke faithfull who turned out to watch that durge. match of the day is on in a bit, and its fucking great, because 18 months ago we were only on it to show yet another FA cup exit on 3rd Rd day. So settle down, let it all soak in, because these days are happening to us, they may carry on happening to us ad infinitum, but i doubt it, so fucking enjoy it, keep yer feet on the ground, but open a savings account for a European adventure just incase, if we don't get there, well you'll have enough to buy summat anyway ;D www.statto.com/football/stats/england/premier-league/2009-2010/table/2009-08-29

They gave everything for that shirt today and for me that means so much, you are right dave, i'm 36 and have had some good times and bad following stoke but this is just fucking brilliant and the pride i get belonging to the stoke family is immense to say the least.

38 years of age, saw us in the 80's, too young for the glory years in the 70's. Happy as a pig in shit at the minute (even as an ex pat) !!!

At 47 I am old enough to have seen and been there during the 70s end of the glory days. While I was pleased we got promoted and survived, deep down I though we would be the sort of side that played dodge the trap-door every season. But after the signings this week, I am absolutely with you. The buzz is back.

The same feelings of anticipation I had when Waddo signed Hudson and Salmons in 1974 to complete the side that so very nearly won the championship the following year.
Just a gentle reminder to PC: Please, please make sure the Brit building insurance policy is up to date and adequate.

Having watched Stoke for so long, seeing so many teams play so many types of football, I can honestly say that watching the lads today gave me as much pleasure as watching anything we had in the past. Today we are watching Stoke play against MULTI MULTI million pound teams, whereas in the past we we almost-not quite- on a par with most of the teams around us financially. TPs players spotting skills, and his determination not to be beat, even at the cost of playing dire football, is slowly leading us to the promised land. I won't compare todays teams against yesterdays teams, it means nothing. I just watch the Stoke City on the field, and shout for them

Nice post Ilford. This is our time for the lost generation.
I've been away for the first couple of weeks of the season without access to the internet, so I'm back in time for Chelsea and Man U and feel like a right glory hunter this season. Stepped of the plane at Luton yesterday afternoon to get confirmation that Kitson got his first Prem goal and haven't stopped looking at the Prem table since.
