Said exactly the same to the missus when we were shopping yesterday, that's the best signing since Huddy.

When we signed Hudson everyone sat up and took notice of us. Huddy was young and very talented and it surprised everyone when he joined us. Just missed out on Osgood that season. Had we had done so we would've won the league.
Signing both Huth and Tuncay is the best signings since Huddy and signals to the rest, 'Stoke are back' big time.

Said exactly the same on another thread !!!!!! 30 ODD YRS SINCE ALAN HUDSON
I was lucky enough to be around when Stoke signed Alan Hudson in Jan/Feb 1974 - I remember the excitement that this signing created. What a player he was in the red & white stripes. One of his 1st games was against Liverpool & Bill Shankly couldn't believe his ability & how he ran the game - think we won 1-0 at the old vic. The signing of Tuncay is probably the next best signing to create the same excitement among the fans. Stoke do not normally buy quality World class midfield / forward players. I know Hooky was brill but it was in the twilight of his injury hit career and in a lower division. We can only wait and see what Tuncay will provide but the anticipation is there. We haven't seen a player of his class in a Stoke shirt for 30 odd years since Huddy. Well done SCFC in bringing this player to our club I'm sure most fans thought he was completely out of our reach.

It is the first signing in a long time where I can't think of a reason why the player joined Stoke.
Hooky had serious injury problems, Ric has his dodgy knees, Ryan was young and needed to play, Abdy was playing for a manager who hadn't a clue about defenders etc.
Tuncay was always one of those "yeah, right", "in my dreams" targets. He is at the prime of his career. He has plenty of Premier League & International experience. He has always looked like the kind of player who could do a job for anyone in the Premier League.
When the story first began to break I expected to end in a bit of a "Damien Francis" (We have certainly progressed since those days!).
I normally only log on to the sports pages during my lunch hour (or the test Match), but yesterday, it was 10 past the hour, every hour. By ten past 3 my hopes were sinking. It was great when it was confirmed and I enjoyed a long chat with my Birmingham City fan colleague who was pretty brassed off that we had "nicked" their target. ;D

In terms of excitement this had probably got to be the best. I'm like a ten year old again. I think I'm going to faint when I see Tuncay run out in a Stoke shirt.
