To be clear I think these are two good signings. As I have said before, Tuncay should give us much needed flair and skill while Huth will give us strong competition for places in the centre of defence. (a welcome relief from Donko).
HOWEVER, these two were virtual ever present for a team that went down last year so I'm not expecting miracles. I think the biggest problem will be with the manager and how he will fit Tuncay in the side to get the best out of him. Personally I think we will see him wide right in place of Lawrence.

Oh pleeeeeeeease. Two players don't make a relegation team. They're great signings.

Pugsley , they did play for a relegated side, but Tuncay at the brit played with an enormous amount of passion and worked his socks off and looked a class player, infact everytime I saw him he looked a class player, Huth also looked solid and I think we have just purchased the only two premier quality players they have left (Downing was the other).

So you are expecting miracles then. Good luck to the pair with that kind of pressure. I remember the same kind of hysteria when Kitson signed. 12 months later he's scored his first goal.
LIKE I SAID, Tuncay will provide flair and skill and Huth will compliment our defence, a vast improvement to the likes of Sonko and Cort.
LIKE I SAID, I think these are two good signings.

Puglsey, Tuncay was their best player, not a player who "helped them down".
We are a Premier League team now buying big Championship side's best players, led here by your mate tone, this is the truth.

Will Pulis play Tuncay in the position where he can do the most damage?

I'd be surprised if Tuncay replaced Lawrence. We do tend to rely quite heavily on our set plays and we have no-one better at them than Liam. Plus the amount of grass Liam covers in games is immense.
To have both these players on for home games would make sense, to ADD creativity and flair to the set plays. Away from home i fully expect Tuncay to be either wide left, or on the bench IF Fuller starts.. I doubt TP will play Tuncay and Fuller from the off away from home!

I'm struggling to see who the manager will drop. I can't see him replacing one of his trusted runners so I guessed at a wide man.

Trust you, you miserable c*nt. typical response from you. What is miserable in saying that they are two good signings, not to expect fucking miracles and wonder how the manager is going to incorporate a player like Tuncay in the side? Even a retard like you must be pondering who is going to make way (if anyone) for him?* *or would that mean you expressing an opinion on football rather than your normal m.o. of slagging everyone off.

I think your being a miserable c*nt influences your views on the game, that is all. So come on then, what do you think the manager will do? I'll think he'll be on the bench tomorrow which is fair enough but he should be in the side sooner rather than later.

Michael Carrick, Jermain Defoe, David James, Fredi Kanoute and Joe Cole all played for a relegated side
Mark Viduka, Paul Robinson, Alan Smith and Harry Kewell played for a relegated side
All of the above have had pretty damn good careers since their respective clubs went down in 2003 and 2004. Both Tuncay and Huth have shown their quality over the last couple of years and that is good enough for me

I dont think some of you are quite getting this ! We havn't brought 2 replacements for anyone. Premiership clubs with ambition utilise a squad system and play the best team for any given situation when available (exclude Leyton orient game). We now also have back up in a little depth for when we get injuries and suspensions. OK, we dont have the resources of the big clubs but TP is doing the best he can with what he has. I applaud both him and Peter Coates for the moves they are making.

Tuncay will score 100 goals this season and we will win the league and the chamions league, even though we're not in it.
You should be burnt Pugsley.

Some people are never pleased.

I think peoples reaction to this thread is due to the subject heading. You're inferring that everyone is getting over excited about these players. You then go on to say that they will not work miracles, inferring that those displaying excitement about them are indeed expecting miracles. You back this up by stating that they both played in a relegated team.
I believe it is this that people replying on this thread are taking exception to.
Nobody is expecting them to perform miracles, we are just VERY excited by the prospect of these very good players playing for Stoke. The fact that they were both relegated last year is imaterial. Newcastle got relegated yet they had/have some very good players at their disposal (Owen, Martins, Beye, Taylor, Guttierez, Nolan etc).

Pugs, to answer your question. It is going to be a dilemma where Tuncay fits in. I don't think he will drop Lawrence, well, certainly not at home. I'm also struggling as to where he'll fit Huth. Will he go three at the back at home? Maybe. That would accommodate Huth in the defence (probably at the expense of both fullbacks) and allow Tuncay to slot in a five man midfield of Lawrence, Delap, Whitehead, Tuncay and Etherington. Up front: Fuller and A.N.Other.
It's a good problem to have.
OS.
