Yes, unfortunately, as I understand, this incident vaguely resembles the truth.
Please show some god damn respect...the individual in question is in a very serious condition.
Although you feel obliged to judge a person that you do not know, please accept this is some mothers son........
Thanks.

As said above, there is unforunately more than a little truth to this. I don't really know how much I can say at present, but the Stokie involved is a very well known and well liked lad at away days. From what I saw, "it looks bad" doesn't do it justice. My prayers are with him and his family.

If it's true that the lad was just in the wrong place at the wrong time people should be a bit more careful of posting that he was involved in a fight. Hope he makes a full recovery. Keep us updated if there's anything in the local press ghosty

I won't go into details at present as I've given my details to the police but it was the single most horrendous thing I've seen following Stoke. I'll try to keep you updated as soon as I find out anything.

yep. apparently this is very true. i was in the last orders, stoke tonight and a load of the lads who stayed around brum after the game came in at around 9pm. all of the talk was about this lad who had been put in hospital with a suspected fractured skull. i have little sympathy though. if you insist on staying in birmingham town centre for hours after the game drinking and looking for trouble, you will more often than not find it. i have never understood the mindset of these so-called "casuals" or "hooligans" and never will. idiots. i would delete/modify this foals this incident appears to have little to do with football hooliganism, rather it is an attempted murder the despicable scum who did it was looking to seriously injure/kill someone all the best to the injured stokie, my prayers are with him and his family You're bang on with what you've said here. From what he was hit with, and how he was afterwards, we can only pray that attempted murder is the least they're charged with.

Hope the lad pulls through, sounds serious, and no matter what your views on hooliganism foals (they sound similar to mine) to suggest he was asking for it when you have no idea what went on, is wrong in this situation. Might be ok when its just a bit of slapping, but when its clear the lad is fighting for his life, its bang out of order.

The last time I went to St Andrews a lad lost an eye...now a Stoke fan has had his skull fractured...both innocent genuine Stokies in the wrong place (Birmingham) at the wrong time..not out looking for trouble at all...
Lets hope the lad makes a full recovery..

This will make the return fixture more of a minefield than it normally is.

Rumour had it down here last night that the person who got hit around the head last night had passed away. Was down Digbeth last night, a lot of people were talking about the incident. Just hope it's a case of chinese whispers.

We were drinking in a pub less than 75 yards from where this all happened and though I have to confess that none of our party saw what happened it is clear that this was a very serious incident indeed.
We last walked past the area more than three hours after it had happened and it was still cordened off, with forensic officers still all over the place. They wouldn't say exactly what had occured but they said it was 'football related' and that it was being treated as a possible murder scene.
WE can but hope the poor individual who was attacked is going to be okay.

As Smudge says it was a good 3 hours after the incident and the area was still cordoned off, It was very sobering.
Hopefully the culprits will be caught and delt with in the courts but more importantly I hope the lad whose in hospital pulls through and makes a full recovery.

This is NOT the place to start being abusive, when the full facts are not known and it is most certainly NOT the place to start talking about revenge.
Those sort of posts are going to be deleted.
Let's hear what's happened first.

Very sorry to hear and I hope everything is ok for the lad and family. All this talk of wait until they come to the Brit is just bollocks and will make us as bad as them if there any vigilante missions. Admin you beat me to it.

Sickening news.
Like everyone else I really hope it isn't as serious as it appears but another incident at Birmingham is always horrible but not surprising. Its stuff like this which makes you question if its worth going to places like Birmingham at all.

Any talk of revenge is stupid if any Birmingham Supporter gets beaten up in the return game it'll be a cast iron certainty that they would of had nothing to do with the attack yesterday and be just an innocent supporter going to watch his team.

Yes but Mark you should know what Stoke fans are like especially over something as serious as this...I hope nothing happens but it's going to be inevitable; we dislike each other as clubs as it is no mind something like this...plus it's over Xmas period when everyone get's paraletic if nothing happens I'll be extremely shocked

i hope and pray this lad is ok, checked the local news etc nothing on their.
admin its ok deleting these messages but im sorry if this lad passes away ( hope to god he doesnt) then when they come here my god it will be a bloodbath! you only have to think back what happened at the jjb, all because 50 wigan fans turned up in hanley! this is completly off the radar compared to that. surely the f.a need step in and ban away fans for their own safety, dont get me wrong im not saying revenge is the right way but it will happen if nothing aint done.
again, this aint condoning violence its just facts, but the main thing is this lad pulls through
