All points to a deal potentially happening in the background. One would assume he is a MAYBE on Liverpools version of the oatcake and their own DV at the moment

I'm worried that if Everton sell Lescott, they could come knocking with enough cash to tempt Coates and Pulis

If he does go then the way he's handled himself has been magnificent and a way in which so called better players can learn from. He was immense yesterday and certainly didn't play like he was waiting to move. For what it's worth I think he's worth 10-12 million after yesterdays showing.

If we're silly enough to let him go, we must be silly enough to ask for £10-12 million. The bloke is invaluable to us, and his potential is is awesome.

Lescott 20m + Bassong 10m Turner a report 10 - 12 Shawcross as got to be worth 15m at the very least. That Bassong deal was crazy! With Newcastle apparently under pressure to sell, you'd have thought they'd get no more than £5m for him.

watching the sunday supplement, they held up a newspaper and quoted "a shaw thing" Man Utd to go back for Ryan Shawcross, this would make sense as they have first dabs

Now that sounds ominous. But where would he go? Obscure squad member back at ManU or at Liverpool. Surely that's why he left ManU. I wonder whether the Tottenham thing is still bubbling away in the background.

He'd be foolish to leave now, but I guess he's on his way.
He is'nt good enough to waltz into a top 4 defence on the back of a good, 2nd half to the season last year, after a dodgy 1st half. He's a good, solid midtable Premier League defender just waiting to be consolidated this year, with a view to pushing on next year. Nothing more, nothing less.
A couple more years with us and he will be ready. Leaving now could put his career back a few years IMHO.
His choice though I suppose. I'll wish him well all the same.

Well it was obvious fergie was there yesterday to watch shawcross -- he didn't come to just watch burnley surely?
If he goes, he's a total idiot -- he'll end up like most players that have moved to big clubs too early and just gone downwards since. How many players have there been with better potential than shawcross and haven't quite made it at the top because they were rushed and not nurtered carefully?
I fear he'll go -- you lot really think coates would refuse 10mill? Disgrace -- because he'd be worth even more next year.

I think you're spot on there mate, but knowing Stoke he'll be sold at the first avaliable opportunity for a cutdown price of about £5 million. We need to act like other clubs and put a silly price tag on his head to deter other clubs. IMO Turner is worth £5 million at the very most so if he's being touted around at £10 million then Ryan must be worth about £18 million seen as he has huge potential and should be a future England international. Didn't Anton Ferdinand go for something ridiculous like £14 million last season?

It would be bloody awful if he did go. But if we were to let him go, then I wouldn't sell him for anything less than 10-12 million. He's young, international quality and getting better. Great defender who can score goals. From what he said to you, s82, it sounds like they may be talking over figures or something from potential buyers. In order to further his career on an international level it probably would be beneficial for him to move to a bigger club, but I for one would miss him very much!

Mate, no offence, but he's 21. He has plenty time to further his international career. Well it could go either way for him: He shines at his new club -- or he comes another potential who goes downards and ends back at us lol. Why can't he stay at us for another year? Haven't we in essence, or shal I say faye, made him? Not a nice way to repay someone -- go running soon as rediclous mmoney is thrown about

Didn't Anton Ferdinand go for something ridiculous like £14 million last season? Unfortunately, we have little choice as players have all the power. If a top 4 club comes in for him, all we can do is get the best price we can. Stoke City cannot stand in the players way, and to be honest, as greedy as I am in terms of wanting players to stay at my club I cannot abide an organisation that stops a professional wanting to progress in his given trade. All Stoke can do is give him the opportunity to talk to the Top 4 clubs and hope he makes the best decision for the club he is currently at and for his own career. Unfortunately on that score, players tend to follow the path to glory and money. Some succeed, some fail. If Shawcross cannot break into the U21's with a full season at Stoke, then he will not break into the U21's with a full season in and out of a top 4 side lacking match practice. That said, you have to be even handed and look at it how Shawcross will look at it - Top 4, chance to break into the team and stay there (thats how all footballers think), more money to look after family etc. He will also have one eye on David Wheater. Linked with the big clubs then one dodgy season at Middlesbrough (who were more established than Stoke) and he's in the Championship and even further away from it. Its not as clear cut as supporters look at it.

TP should open the game by putting a price on Shawx, stating his obvious worth to US. Don't leave it for another week, then be tempted to accept the first 'reasonble' offer. Price the lad high, then let those who want to buy him compete against each other, pushing the price higher.

Not a nice way to repay someone -- go running soon as rediclous mmoney is thrown about I think he should stay with us for another coouple of seasons to help him develop. He's more-or-less guaranteed first team every week with us, whereas he wouldn't be for a bigger club. It'd be beneficial in the short term, but then in a couple of years he should move. I should've made that clear in my previous post, sorry.

He lives in Cheshire,we`re the nearest league ground to home on a day the shit arn`t playing against his next league opponents.I know we all like to read something into everything on the board but it just seems logical to me that he should watch Burnley himself to avoid being caught out on Wednesday

I hope he stays just to develop a bit further, be a more accomplished player, net more for the club (goals and eventual income), as I can't deal with the prospect of him going at this stage. It would truly be a sad day. And a backward step if he goes to Manure as he will spend time warming their luxurious bench.
I must admit when I heard Fergie was there that he'd be watching the unknown Burnley, so hopefully it's just filling column inches with stuff they've dreamt up - maybe it's this seasons press tactic? Rather than be plain rude, perhaps they are going to link all our players with other clubs to try to unsettle the team? Just a thought......
