Yep, survive another season, gain more stability, look to build on that in the 3rd season. Ok, it'd be great if we could build on our 12th place finish but the market is tight, and the premier league has taken another step in standard, it wont be easy.

Human nature and evolution would suggest that it isn't.
It's all relative though isn't it.
Say for example we survive this season and next July Sir Pete chucks another 50million onto the table, we all would be expecting a bit more wouldn't we?..... wouldn't we??

I think for us to be able to get the calibre of players next summer to take us forward we need to remain above 14th place for the majority of the season.

i will take 4th from bottom now we have no hope of top 6 i dont want to be consistesnt mediocre midtable all season, where is the fun in that i want the excitement of every game being a battle, being safe by early april, pressure off a couple of good results from there and finish 11

When will the novelty of being in The Prem wear off though?
And then what happens?

When will the novelty of being in The Prem wear off though? And then what happens? We will need to make sure we have the players in to take us to the next level before that happens otherwise things will be very difficult.

17th or above will do nicely It was our first season last time and everyone was " up for it ". We took teams by suprise at the Brit, this time they may be ready for us. I'll be very suprised if we replicate our home form this time, so I'm hoping we can do a lot better away My true hope is that the "Bear Pit" can growl even louder this time

Yep, enough for me too !
Until we've been premiership for 2/3 seasons the genuine quality players (the ones we've all been getting carried away about) won't come here

Fastforward to August 2010, just about to kick off in the prem for the third time, sounds good to me!

Survival would be a fantastic achievement and will be the main aim of at least half the teams in the Prem.
Obviously PC TP and everyone else wants more but I think any of us would be dreaming if we actually expected more. In two or thre years with continual steady progress (please!) then I think we might start to expect mid table finishes. But to be honest Boro and Newcastle had both reached that stage this time last season!!

Survival is definitely enough for the next few seasons. It takes time and we can't expect too much particurlarly as we have found it so difficult to attract players of real quality this summer.

Before last season started our 'expectations' were much lower than they are now...and results meant everything....but once success is tasted..it's only human-nature to want more...IMO survival won't be enough..we'll want more than that...

Believe more than anything WE will all have to play an even bigger part than last year, most teams will be expecting a hostile bear pit...so we've got to raise it to another level

If we could skip forward ten months now and we'd finished 17th and I was about to watch the first game of The World Cup, I would take it 100%. If only Dr. Who was real... ;D

the "Bear Pit" is certainly going to be a factor this season.
Visitors, players and fans will expect it.
Will we be able to deliver?
Is there something the fans can do to take it to the next level?
