I thought he had been suspended, but will be eligible for the game with us. Could be wrong though.

Hope he does and has the same knack of missing open goals (cardiff away ) as he did when he was ere! I will NEVER forget that and still maintain that was the moment we missed out on the playoffs!

Paterson should be given a round of applause pre-match, he's a Stoke fan and always gave 100%. Lets just hope he remembers who he supports if he finds himself one-on-one with Simonsen at any point during the game......

Im sorry but it was an open net at a crucial time in our promotion push scoring that would of boosted momentum, as it turned out the rest is history. No excuses...

Can hardly blame one miss for missing out on promotion, Martin's a real genuine lad who always gave 110% when playing for Stoke.

It was a massive miss though in a massive game for us. Every season has 'those moments' where you look back and consider 'what if' for me this miss was one of 'those moments'.

An easy argument could be Perhaps if he'd been given more games instead of TP persisting with Peri wank fucking cant then he'd have been sharp enough to not miss. But that would be being petty and very shallow to blame a whole season on 1 person.

not blaming him for the whole season but as I said that miss (for me) was one of 'those moments'.
Paterson would'nt get into the stoke team now let alone then the way we play bringbackthevic.

So it was nothing to do with the countless times we chucked away points by sitting deep? Or the numerous away games where we settled for a draw when a win looked a real possibility, or the countless chances that Sidders missed, or Hendrie? Or our inability to secure signings leaving us woefully short over a busy Christmas? No - it was one miss by one player who happens to have left the club.

No it was obviously a combination of those factors. Like I said though, to miss that chance at a Playoff rivals was a turning point come the end of the season.

I hope he's still as one-footed, but Scunthorpe seem to have some kind of magic striker potion at theirs.

Patto proven goal scorer at this level now, so how would he not get in to our team? Always gave 100%

Pulis would'nt play Pato ahead of Sid and Fuller. Patos problem at Stoke would be the fact that he plays on the last man, the same as Fuller. Would you seriously drop Fuller for Pato??

No Newport your very right you couldn't possible put Pato infront of Fuller but he would be more of a option to come of the bench than either Pericard or Parkin and i know Sidders gives more to the team than goals but Pato would of weighed in with a few more goals when Fuller's banned.

Can't argue with that Chewy. Parkins signing still confues me now when Pato was sold for a similar amount.

I hope he's still as one-footed, but Scunthorpe seem to have some kind of magic striker potion at theirs. It's comments like that, that really piss me off. The lad was given only a handful of runouts, all from the bench and the majority where on the wing not upfront. Somebody puts their faith in him and gives him a run of games in his right postion and suddenly they've got a magic potion. The amount of games Fuller missed last season should have given us the chance to see what Pato was made of.

Always thought that Pulis saw him as lightweight though. He seems to of built up a little more at Scunny though. Good luck to him though except on Friday when I hope he has a shocker!

Yes hopefully we'll bully him into having a quiet game. What I saw of him last season your right very lightweight but thats what helps him be so quick. I don't hold it against TP that he left as I don't think he'd of got many games this season, I just get sick of people slagging players like Demar,Rooney,Pato off when they've never been given a proper chance. What I do hold against him is that Pericard is still at the club.

Jug Bank, you taking the piss? the lad doesnt need boing if you dont want to clap him dont but dont boo him either. Keep it shut its not as if he left stoke and said right then shove it up your arses twats. No he left for first team football and for that he can not be blamed

I've no objection to Paterson, I'd have rathered we kept him. He was just very one-footed. We stuck the poor lad on the left wing once and he did his best but he seemed able to touch the ball only with his right foot. It was why he missed that chance at Cardiff too, he could have stuck it in much more easily if he'd used his left. He's a proper Stoke fan though and I'll applaud him if he's around.

Couldn't give a damn about Patto "never wish him any harm though". In my opinion he should have stayed and waited for his chance because afterall not much can be argued about both Sidders and Fullers contribution. In my opinion he really thought that Stoke City football club actually owed him something.

the point about Hendrie is very petinent.
Pato missed on open goal in a crucial game,Hendrie missed 3 open goals including the crucial Hull home game.
neither deserve stick because they were commited to the cause whilst they were here.

Paterson moved on for first team football. You can't blame him for that. He is a Stoke fan and did nothing wrong at Stoke it just did not work out for him. These things happen in football if they didn't we would not have Shawcross. So lets applaud him. It usually works when ex strikers come back to the Brit and later on in the game perhaps a couple of chants of "Patto is a Stokie" if of course he has not scored. ???

No doubt he will get needlessly booed by the small minority of the Stoke crowd. We have seen it on a couple of occaisions this season with Russell and Hoefkens. Two top players who gave there all for the club when they were here yet still got booed on their return. Needless IMO.
