Just read about the death of another player's death tonight - this time Espanyol's captain. Shame. May he rest in peace, poor guy.
"The skipper of Spanish top flight side Espanyol, Dani Jarque, has died from a heart attack while on a pre-season training camp in Italy, Spanish media reported Saturday.
The 26-year-old Jarque was reported to have died at the hotel where the team were staying in the town of Coviciana. He was found after teammates realised he had not shown for a meal.
Espanyol did not immediately confirm the news."
Jarque's death comes two years after the death, also from heart failure, of Sevilla defender Antonio Puerta, who died aged 22 after having collapsed during the opening game of the Spanish La Liga season.

R.I.P Daniel Jarque Great prospect for Spanish football and to go at such a young age from heart failure. It keeps happening to so many good players and decent people like Marc Vivienne Foe, Antonio Puerta and that lad who played for Benfica who also had heart failure while playing centre midfield at the time.

Just reminded me of our own Chris Hemmings back in the 80's, didn't he get a pacemaker while playing for us ???

I caught this on the news just and was very shocked to hear it. By all accounts, he was a very accomplished defender. A real shame. Again.

RIP, 26 is no age at all to be having a heart attack Probably not a heart attack in the sense of the word that the average man in the street suffers. More likely to be a congenital problem, a cardiomyopathy or a rhythmn problem. Often found in very fit young athletes. R.I.P
