Well done murph - it's been a while since the exclusive PFPF has had a public mention. I know we have our regular private meetings but it's about time the PFPF was given some publicity again ! PFPF eh? Well I'm with you in spirit as I adore pickles of all sorts but I can't partake myself. Allergic to cauliflower (and all other brassicas). Made a mighty fine veggie curry tonight. Split into into 2 pans for the last few minutes + stirred in some steamed cauliflower + broccoli into Mrs Q's pot. Well down very well. She returned to the pot for seconds which is always a great compliment. I was just going to reply to the post from Dees - but it's vanished!

The CIA have equated PFPF to be some dodgy terrorist organization *** and have D locked up in a dark room with Ethel Merman blasting into his ears. Watch your back Murph, they're on to you. *** is it just polo shirts you wear or do you also tote balaclavas?

Could be worse - could be 'songs' by Daniel O'Wossischops. Naaaah, Nige - we have the shirts for PFPF meetings and special occasions, but reserve the ballys for just the bank jobs.......

Excellent reply, JD! Ohhhhhh, right…… I see. Sorry, I'm not into the Judge Dredd stuff, so all that's a new one on me. Interesting that you have 'JD' embroidered on your county(*) shirt…. you should see the PFPF polo shirts Bisp, Chuff, Dees and I wear - they're black with 'Piccalilli 4 Popular Front' embroidered on them in - of course - yellow. Well, so it's out with 'Q' and in with 'JD' on 'ere from now on, then. I hope all the rest looking in (and pretending not to) are all paying attention. Yes, of course you'll get an invite to our next knees-up, at which Laphroaig will definitely be served - we have to, or Bisp won't turn up. (*) 'County shirt'? Wossat mean? Are you good at this sport or what? (Chuff's a County hockey player, and he's got medals for gymnastics + a THC ['Tried Hard' Certificate] for his petit-point and crochet work.) We obviously have some very talented chaps amongst our number, JD. You've come to the right place! Marvlious. Definitely looking forward to the invite. Should I book a post-revel stay at Betty Ford's now or leave it for a bit? Yeah, I gathered Chuffed is a very decent hockey player. Loved it myself at school but it used to wreck my back. Worked for a while with a lad who was on the fringe of the England team. Andy Humphries?? Only really knew him as Humper... wonder if Chuffed knows him. Yeah I was a useful bowler in my heyday. Actually retired 15 years ago after a broken elbow (done whilst walking the dog) but started up again 5 years ago with the hope I might get into the county seniors team. Not only did that but also the county adults team. Not bad for an old git, there's not many of us old 'uns can keep pace with the younger bowlers in their prime. Currently out of action with what might be a career-ending injury. Feeling pretty down about it but I have some decent highlights to look back on. Not least a British record from 18 years ago which still stands today. Andy was very good. He went on to help coach GB. Never got to play against him which was probably a good thing, for me at least!.

Well - What a night !!!!!!! About two minutes after I last posted about the PFPF (I'm worried about even mentioning the name now !) there was a loud knock on our front door and a couple who looked very much like The Krankies barged into our living room. They wanted to know who the other members of the PFPF (whispered in a very low voice) were, where they lived, and were extremely interested in what colour undies each of us wore (how the hell would I know ?), and lots of other even more "personal" stuff.
I manfully resisted telling them anything even when "Jimmy Krankie" started to sing - my god it was absolutely horrific, like listening to Kate Bush's old '45's played at normal speed !. Anyway their "line of questioning" continued, and after three hours of Jimmy "singing" they eventually got round to the next PFPF (whisper it very quietly) knees up - turns out they were a Krankies tribute band (!) who'd heard about our legendary do's and were trying to get the gig as the star turn. I acted dumb (very easy for me to do) and said "I know nerrrthing" (very Manuel like) even when they pushed the lighted peperamis up my nose.
They eventually accepted my innocence but deleted my post anyway and said they've "got people" who are watching and listening for any clue or hint where the next knees-up will be as I reckon they either want the gig, or more likely just an invite. Stories of murph's chicken and veg curry, and Chuffed's octopus and oyster concoctions are becoming stuff of legends.
Be careful out there folks !

What a pity you can't eat pickles - there are some nice ones about, esp. the Italian sort - I get some from a place called Melrose and Appleton. Re. allergies, there's a newish 'allergy' thread.... Love the sound of the curry - I'm due to make another batch of chicken & vegetable curry anytime now - it includes 30 chicken thighs and loads of vegs including 2 x 1kg freezer bags of cauliflower - I usually like to make a stack of it & then have some in the freezer. Shirt all clean-ish and neatly folded (for me) and ready for the next outing. 😎👍

Could be worse - could be 'songs' by Daniel O'Wossischops. Naaaah, Nige - we have the shirts for PFPF meetings and special occasions, but reserve the ballys for just the bank jobs....... Went up to Whitby on a coach trip for the day in about 2003 to see the fabulous 'Endeavour' replica museum ship when she was moored there for two years. It was a very popular attraction - you had to queue for a couple of hours, but could then go on board. Definitely wouldn't have fancied shinning up the rigging - the masts, etc., were so high it made you feel dizzy just looking at them. Made you wonder how they coped on the original, at sea for many months at a time - it must have been so crowded, with loads of little hammocks, all crammed together - plus the lower decks were so low that they would have had to spend all the time down there bent double. The worst thing about the trip was that it took six bl**dy hours on this coach to get there, and six hours to get back - and the icing on the cake of travelling misery was that the driver insisted on playing a succession of CDs of all of Daniel O'Soddingdonnell's 'hits' on the way back. ("If only I'd had a rope……..") Purgatory wasn't in it. Even worse than havin' weevils in yer bickies. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HM_Bark_Endeavour_Replica

PFPF Members, please take note that the AGM will be held at the usual place next Friday, 4th January. ETA: 7.30 for 8pm. (Uniforms.) (+ No 'forgotten wallets', please.) We have a suggestion that a new member be added, and as we are only admitting one new member the logo will remain unchanged. Bisp, our esteemed Head of Foreign Operations - also known as 'F.O.', because that's what he types back to me every time I send him any item of official documentation - will unfortunately be unable to attend (*) as he is still sunning himself working very hard at his post overseas and so has kindly agreed to my having his proxy vote. All applications have been carefully considered, ' the (other) chosen one' being our very good friend JD, a.k.a. Quietman, whose uniform will be presented to him at his inauguration ceremony at the AGM, and it is stressed that even though JD cannot personally partake of the delicacy in question he will still be welcomed as a full PFPF member. The Agenda will be exactly as in previous years, no other (*) 'Apologies for Absence' are expected, and Parker will again be providing transport home at the usual ungodly hour. (NB: Note to other members: Make sure you turn up VERY thirsty because this year it's Chuff's turn to get the first round in. )

If this year's was anything to go by the forthcoming one promises to be brilliant. I notice you confirmed that JD is becoming a new member, but you carefully didn't divulge the details of the inauguration ceremony (quite wise when I remember what it usually entails), the spaghetti hoops and baked beans do tend to get into unusual places don't they ! Also best to make sure that Parker stays off the pop this time after his last attempt at smuggling the bottle of vodka inside his chauffers jacket - the tube up his nostril and his frequent sniffing rather gave the game away. Well that and the fact he was slumped against the side window for most of the journey home. Not what is expected of your staff I'm afraid murph ! Anyway see you all on the 4th of Jan !

I think all our faces are a picture, especially the bit with the giant pasta shells and the gorilla costume..... And let's admit it - the 'Blue Danube' soundtrack is pure genius - I got the idea from the 2001/Space Odyssey film & I think ours is even better!

Bisp keeping us under control if we started to get a bit rowdy. Etc. etc. Great fun. I still miss that old spittoon......
