Whats the story with that pic Don't know anything about this vehicle, photo or incident. Why is Valentino Rossi's name, nickname (The Doctor), and number (46), on the vehicle ? Is the driver a big fan or is there some other obscure reason ? Because he is a qualified doctor.

Is the driver a big fan or is there some other obscure reason ? Because he is a qualified doctor. Just googled it - Rossi called himself The Doctor because he got an honorary degree in Italy in Advertising and Communications in 2005. A degree in Italy allows you to call yourself Doctor. 46 was his father (Grazziano Rossi) racing number. Or it's thought to be because of the clinical way he dominated the Moto GP 500 championship winning it 7 times between 2000 and 2008, which was his last one to date.

Looks lovely - very tranquil and very calm, like the proverbial mill pond. It is DSS. Do loads of kayaking here, should have gone this morning really. Great for bass and trout later in the year. Also famous for its oyster beds right up to the river mouth into Wembury Bay. Feel very lucky to live here. How's the fishing been this year. As for the oysters I've been known to travel distances for a decent half dozen fresh ones. Squeeze of lemon juice and down they go. 🍋🦀 {couldn't find an oyster} 🤤

It must obviously be better b/c you just went on hol, but I was wondering how she's doing? Over. Hello murph, Deeside receiving...over ! Thanks for asking murph....Mrs D is still having trouble with her right leg. It's okay generally but it still swells up about 25% bigger after she's been up and about or if she's been walking around during the day. The only remedy seems to be to sit down and elevate her leg for an hour or so and then the swelling reduces. She's been back to the doc's but they told her it's a long process and it will improve in time (no idea how long) and that the tissue itself has been permanently damaged. She's no longer on medication but she's got an emergency stock of tablets (mega strength anti-biotics) if she has the same symptoms again (40+ deg c temperature, 50+% swelling of her leg, and the leg turns purple) and then she has to go immediately to A&E. It's a "big" milestone birthday for her early next month so she's determined to be well to make the most of it ! Strangely her brother also had a bout of sepsis last year (he scratched his leg on a wooden bench outside a pub) and he is still suffering much worse than Mrs D. He has real trouble walking anywhere and has put on about 2 stone in weight through lack of exercise. He's constantly back at his doc's and his local A&E in Wigan but they don't seem to be able to do anything for him.

I've passed your comments and wishes on to Mrs D and she's really pleased ! She went out for a couple of hours this morning "Christmas shopping" (yes I know.... already !!!!) and her leg had swelled up by the time she got home. So she's been sitting with her leg elevated this afternoon and it seems a bit better now. Our damned cat (that caused the problem in the first place) is still lurking around the house but it does seem to have calmed down recently.

Annnnnnnnnnnd..... now one for Q.....What's your Av, Q? Looks like a skelly's skull stuck in a crash helmet designed to look like a galleon……. Can you pls talk us through it? Ta. Aha, found you m'lady. Well, that's a decent rendition of Judge Death, head of the four dark judges (fear, fire, mortis + death), and arch nemesis of Judge Dredd. His rationale was that all crimes were committed by the living, so he would make life itself a capital offence. Eradicate all life + you'll eradicate all crime too. my use of the avatar stems from my uni Tenpin bowling days. Most of us gave each other nicknames. I had the physique of a broom handle + a teammate, Sir David Dangerous, declared I was even skinnier than Judge Death. The name stuck. To this day, I still bowl under the name Judge Death. In fact 34 years on + there's plenty of bowlers who only know me as JD, don't know my real name. I even have JD embroidered on my county shirt rather than my first name. Hope most 'umbly that's answered your question. Now how do i get an invite to your next bacchanal? I saw a mention of Leapfrog (laphroaig). Lovely stuff. Ardbeg is the king of Islays for me. Don't mind a drop of gin but it's one of the few spirits I've never got a taste for neat. Drop of bitter lemon with it for me. At a push, I'll drink anything though. Dark rum, red wine, real ale, antifreeze, windowlene. But never cider or Malibu!

Excellent reply, JD! Ohhhhhh, right…… I see. Sorry, I'm not into the Judge Dredd stuff, so all that's a new one on me. Interesting that you have 'JD' embroidered on your county(*) shirt…. you should see the PFPF polo shirts Bisp, Chuff, Dees and I wear - they're black with 'Piccalilli 4 Popular Front' embroidered on them in - of course - yellow. Well, so it's out with 'Q' and in with 'JD' on 'ere from now on, then. I hope all the rest looking in (and pretending not to) are all paying attention. Yes, of course you'll get an invite to our next knees-up, at which Laphroaig will definitely be served - we have to, or Bisp won't turn up. (*) 'County shirt'? Wossat mean? Are you good at this sport or what? (Chuff's a County hockey player, and he's got medals for gymnastics + a THC ['Tried Hard' Certificate] for his petit-point and crochet work.) We obviously have some very talented chaps amongst our number, JD. You've come to the right place!

Should I book a post-revel stay at Betty Ford's now or leave it for a bit? Yeah, I gathered Chuffed is a very decent hockey player. Loved it myself at school but it used to wreck my back. Worked for a while with a lad who was on the fringe of the England team. Andy Humphries?? Only really knew him as Humper... wonder if Chuffed knows him. Yeah I was a useful bowler in my heyday. Actually retired 15 years ago after a broken elbow (done whilst walking the dog) but started up again 5 years ago with the hope I might get into the county seniors team. Not only did that but also the county adults team. Not bad for an old git, there's not many of us old 'uns can keep pace with the younger bowlers in their prime. Currently out of action with what might be a career-ending injury. Feeling pretty down about it but I have some decent highlights to look back on. Not least a British record from 18 years ago which still stands today.

I know we have our regular private meetings but it's about time the PFPF was given some publicity again ! PFPF eh? Well I'm with you in spirit as I adore pickles of all sorts but I can't partake myself. Allergic to cauliflower (and all other brassicas). Made a mighty fine veggie curry tonight. Split into into 2 pans for the last few minutes + stirred in some steamed cauliflower + broccoli into Mrs Q's pot. Well down very well. She returned to the pot for seconds which is always a great compliment.

Interesting about the chap who was on the fringe of the England team - I bet Chuff does know him or at least knows of him. I played hockey for Stoke-on-Trent Ladies two or three times but I backed out of it fairly sharpish as they were violent maniacs! Re. the next knees-up invite, just print this post off and hand it in at the door - I'll make sure the bouncers security staff know to expect you. Yes, if I were you I'd book a post-revel stay at Betty Ford's right away, because we do tend to fill the place up….. and if you're in the room next to me, I hope you don't snore because on the hol I went on to the Harz Mountains/Colditz the S-O-B in the room next to mine snored like a warthog on acid and I had to keep thumping on the middle wall!

What a pity you can't eat pickles - there are some nice ones about, esp. the Italian sort - I get some from a place called Melrose and Appleton. Re. allergies, there's a newish 'allergy' thread.... Love the sound of the curry - I'm due to make another batch of chicken & vegetable curry anytime now - it includes 30 chicken thighs and loads of vegs including 2 x 1kg freezer bags of cauliflower - I usually like to make a stack of it & then have some in the freezer.

Thank you! It's a sport with loads of potential record categories but, yeah, I'm proud of it. Humper left Leeds to join Cannock around 1998 but that's about all i know of him. Didn't know him well. Lady hockey players violent? I'll bloody say! 6th form mixed hockey + they were brutal !!! Regular occurrence to see a chap in a heap, crying + clutching a gentleman's area that had been "accidentally" caught ny a stick. Do i snore? Oh dear, looks like I'm on the you're-not-coming-in list. I snore so badly I rattle the bed around the room but it is mainly after I've flown anywhere. On some holidays I've gone to sleep in bed + woken up in a different time zone.
