It's my belief that 80pts will do it, if we can win the next 2 home games that would gets us to 62pts with 12 games left and if I'm right 18 points needed to go up automatically. Another interesting factor to help make us all feel good is that if we win those games we will have taken points from 28 out of 34 games played which is truly remarkeable, making the final 18 points (1.5/Game) required seem a very comfortable final target to get us to the promised land.
Now I feel better for that how about you?

If 80 will get us up automatically, and we win the next 2, then 18 points from remaining 12 shouldn't be too bad. 6 wins and whatever from the other 6, 4 wins 6 draws and could even afford 2 losses. Whatever is to be, will be, and lets just hope now.

80 points would be a very low total to get automatic
Vale got 89 points one year & still had to settle for the play-offs which they lost (shame....)

i doubt 89 will be enough this year, with 4 teams vying for it i would think 90 will be necessary, still achievable though

Well it is going to be near 83/84 points because if Watford, currently 1st, win all their remaining 14 games they will get 100 points. So if they go at 2 points a game then its 86 points. Bristol will end up on 85 with 2pts a game and we'll end up with 84.
BUT...
...the fact anyone can beat anyone means 2pts a game is proving very difficult for anybody to achieve. If Watford continue there current pts per game rate then they will end up on 83, Bristol will end up on 81 and we will end up on 80.
So with everyone still having something to play for there aren't going to be any teams rolling anyone over in the coming few weeks, unlike most seasons.

Another point illustrating the low points this season is that usually 92 points gets you 2nd place but only the top 5 can now mathematically get that many, and theres still a 1/3 of the season to go

I reckon the target this year is 86 points.
30 required from 14 games - Nine wins & three draws, say?
We've picked up 29 pts from the previous 14 games.
It's close!

All we have to do is match Watford and Bristol point for point and then beat either of them. if we do this but beat both of them we'll be champions. Were on a great run at the minute but if we could carry the winning streak on for say another 10 games we'll be there ;D

I honestly think its a case of mid-80's to 90 points for auto-promotion. We've seen how there arent too many sides in this league who are really all that good, we're on a roll, but the problem is the sides above us wont fail to win all that many games really will they surely?!
I fancy us to get something most places we go at the moment - surely those other 3 going head to head with us are very similar - where do you see them slipping up? If there a BIG 4 as it were (us included!) I think it will go all the way as far as automatic is concerned and could be a high pts total to get in there

The last week has proved quite a tipping point. I looked at the table last night and realised that its going to take a fuk up of quite major proportions for us to miss the play-offs from here.
I'm going to get my head around that before I tackle the fact that automatic places are really up for grabs. ;D

I did the BBC Predictor thing this morning, up to the last game of the season. Tried to be impartial - think the failing of other teams may be the number of matches against close rivals - our run in is not too bad.
This placed us top on 84 pts trailed by WBA and Watford both on 83 meaning we would need to beat Leicester last game to win the league.
Heres hoping!!!

Personally I like this stat:
Stoke are 3rd in the table, two points off first place.
That makes me believe auto promotion is achievable.

we will fly this crap league, there is not a team that can defend set pieces ,very poor standard and we are the best organised of a poor lot, but i will take that us to top it over 90 points, with charlton and watford batling for a distant second best.

If the top 12 teams repeat their form from the last 14 matches (15 for Hull who have 1 game in hand) in their next 14 matches (15 again for Hull), the final league table will look like this:
1. Bristol City 86 Points 2. Stoke City 85 Points 3. Watford 80 Points 4. WBA 76 Points 5. Charlton 71 Points 6. Crystal Palace / Hull 70 Points
Looks pretty good to me!

Some interesting stats and number bending in there particularly the "if the last x number of games points haul are repeated theory"!
However there is nothing there as mind blowing as the famous "chilling statistics" posted last season by Ligger R.I.P.

stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/teams/StokeCty.html. The thing thats going to get us promoted automatically is the fact that we will be beaten the fewest amount of times! I think Pulis has set the benchmark really in that if we don't win we are very likely to get a draw. We are on a good run at the moment, particularly our home form which we should continue over the next two games. Come on Stoke! This is the best we have been for years, we have a great chance. Everyone fully needs to get behind the team, there is a good balance of young and old players and all are hungry for success, bar Parkin who is just Hungry.

We need to hold our nerve when going against these lower teams. I believe our fate is in our own hands as we have to play the two teams above us, Watford first mid march which is a massive game and then Bristol at home in April, which I believe will be the biggest 6 pointer in years, if not ever!!
Secondly, our run in is not as bad as a lot of the teams around us, this weekend for example, if we beat Scunthorpe Friday CHarlton could do us a massive favour by holding/beating Watford Saturday. they will be up for it too as they believe they are still in with a fighting chance.

We could win all our home games, and Watford away, and achieve automatic promotion, comfortably if we get a couple of other away wins.
Or we could fuck it all up and still just scrape into the play offs.
Definitely right to focus on one game at a time. They can't come quick enough at the moment, eh? Win v Scunthorpe and it will feel like years before Ipswich game.

last season after 33 games it was like this ............P..PTS 1 Derby 32 63 2 Brum 31 60 3 WBA 33 59 4 southampton 33 56 5 sunderland 33 56 6 preston 32 56 7 cardiff 33 56 8 wolves 33 53 9 colchester 33 51 10 Stoke 33 50
So we'd be 4th on GD, 4 points behind top who have a game in hand. Also our 10th place last season would leave us 7th this season, 1 point off the play offs

I am not getting too complacent...............look at Ipswich..........they've been so close so many times
I am quietly confident but let's take one game at a time and not be too bothered that we remaIn unrecognised by much of the media..........

and the season before 1 Reading 34 83 2 Sheff Utd 34 71 3 Leeds 33 62 4 Watford 34 61 5 Crystal palace 33 56 6 Preston 32 54 7 Cardiff 34 49 8 Wolves 33 47 9 Ipswich 34 47 10 Luton 34 45 -------------------- 16 Stoke 33 40
So with this seasons totals we'd be 5th, 24 points off top, 12 points off second.

it has to be one game at a time, then if/when a play off place is secured , we start looking at how many needed for auto promotion, i am sure this is how pulis will be approaching it.
it is fantastic that we are talking this way, but lets do it one step at a time.
