There seems to have been much grumbling over the past few days about "non regulars" getting tickets for the Southampton match. With a sub 20k gate it looks like nobody ended up missing out on a seat. It does raise the point though that if this success continues and the inevitable promotion happens, Glory Hunters are a species that some of the regulars are going to have to familiarise themselves with. Suddenly, non ST holders that have been regular attenders throughout the doldrum years will not be able to get tickets to big games. People you work with who've never been to a game in their life will be bragging about the Potters and how they've supported them since the Waddo years. Forget the ID cards, away ticket allocations will be absorbed by groups of visiting American's and Japanese. Of course, hopefully the upside will be more bums on seats, more merchandise sold, more cash in the coffers and a prolonged period of success. The stalwart fans perhaps need to tone down their disdain for the bloke and 3 kids with home counties accents that they find occupying the same seat they've had since Brian Little was in the dugout.
Of the "new supporters" many will become the regulars of tomorrow. Whether they're a group of Czech exchange students or some corporate visitors to a business in Sheffield or Derby. The good folk of the Potteries should embrace them to their Red 'n White bussom.

Not sure what you mean, i know you are being welcoming to "new" fans but for example quite a few of us buy tickets frequently and i have never sat in the same place yet this season! So that bloke you are sat next to, who you may have not seen before, may have actually been going to Stoke all / most of the season. It is just he has "moved" around the ground after each match.

Exactly.
It's a typical insular Stoke attitude that a lot of people would secretly prefer that we just kept getting 12,000 regulars, rather than attract new fans who might not be able to reel off all the reserve team's names and inside leg measurements.
I heard a few ridiculous chants last night "If you hate part-timers clap your hands", "where were you on Saturday etc"...it was only a few people singing that kind of stuff, but it's a mind-set that many, many others seem to have quietly adopted.
Put it this way, if I was attending my first game of the season last night, I wouldn't have really liked having to listen to that small-mided crap, and it's the kind of stuff that might dissuade the more sensitive potential supporters from attending again.
If we are to maintain our new status as a major player in the championship, we need to attract as many new fans as we can, as we won't stay here for too long on gates of 12,000, even if we do all sit there congratulating each other for coming down since Alan Ball was manager etc etc.
Welcome new supporters with open arms, rather than chanting derogatory crap at them like a complete moron.

The extra gate last night did not consist of glory hunters. You could describe them as "stay away" or "lapsed" City fans. Glory Hunters follow Prem. teams that have a chance of a major honour. We should all welcome extra support for the finance they bring in and the noise they can make. I have supported Stoke for over half a century and I can say that I have never failed to get a ticket. You just have to be determined

Brassneck - So you would rather have an half empty stadium. I'm a season ticket holder who couldn't make last night nor can I make Friday night. You call them Glory Hunters guess what we've done nothing yet and theres still lots of games to go and the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

No one watching Stoke could ever be accused of being a glory supporter, unless they started watching us solely down to winning the League Cup in 72, because we have had no glory since, unless you count the 2 Mickey Mouse trophies we have won. It's amazing that a small set of petty minded simpletons who groan every week about the crowds being poor are probably the same people moaning about glory hunters. Maybe people should get electronically tagged for every game they attend , so they can take the moral high ground with some of the fans that have been to less games.

Those grapes still a bit sour Ryan? I mean if we are talking glory, you have only won one cup more recently to us and that was the same League cup in 74. A season getting hammered in the Prem is not glory.

nowt against new ppl coming down the brit to lend support ,,,,,,,wat i dont agree with is the new fans who came down last n8 and did not sit in there allocated seats instead sat in a st holders seat because it was a better view if there going to come down great good news for the club as long as they behave and sit where they are supposed too

Tijuana ---- I see why the Americans worry you - some may be Mexican border cops ;D But seriously - those visting American/Japanese will likely be "trouble" for us in the JS Upper so unless you are there - not to worry. Also I have sat next to the same guy at the Brit/Vic for over 20 years and he is a right moaning so and so. I will call him Ken - to protect his identity and because that is his name. He does not shoput abuse at the manager or the players but even at 3-0 uplast night it was "What if they take their foot off now? What if they annoy Fuller again and he gets sent off? How close is Whelan to a ban? And worse - "Tell me what the Manager is saying to them now and will he make changes for the second half?" and he actually expects me to know. He has moaned at every game we have played so maybe I would welcome a new Americo/jap next to me who asks questions that I can answer. Like "who was the guy who scored the third" Well to me it looked like Sidibie but I know it cannot have been big Mama so I guess I could not even answer that one. Do I really want "Ken" out - no - he is a mate and is part of the atmosphere - perhaps if he was not such a pain I would start moaning about the team, TP or even the glory hunters. Finally It is known by statistics that though our average crowd is in the 14,000's that over the season 32,000 go to make that number up - so we actually have a following - before glory - that would fill the Stadium - maybe even get those darned corners filled in. Roll on the "glory" days.

It does beg the question which would the preferred type of "new supporter" be? The local that couldn't be arsed to go to games when we were in Division 1 or the out- of-towner who knows nowt about the club and it's history but saw Ricardo Fuller on the telly and thought he had good legs?
We need to accommodate the Wolves fans who realise that this is a chance to see top-flight football in Staffordshire as well as the (Northants)Ken's of this world.

There really are some first class pricks at Stoke. Moan when theres only 12000 then moan when they have to wait an extra minute for their bovril & meat pie. I haven't had a season ticket for the last 2 years, mainly because I can pick and choose where to sit. For example I hate sitting in the sentinel stand on a sunny afternoon as I cant see a fucking thing without a daft cap or shades on. But normally block 31 is my first choice. I personally would like to see the place sold out every week & it wouldn't bother me if they never missed a game or just came 2 or 3 times a season ffs!

There were kids in the queue for tickets yesterday wearing Man Utd shirts!!!
Piss off to old trafford then!!!
Unfortunately football fans are the most fickle in the world and that fact will never change.
