Fabulous game of football. A thriller from start to finish.
We were outplayed in midfield for much of the first half. Merson totally dominated and we seemed to have no plan to stop it happening. Having said that we actually made more clear cut chances in that first half than they did.
Asaba seemed to be lacking in confidence first half but he perked up after his first goal and had a great second half.
I thought Pulis actually got lucky with the injury to Hoekstra. Commons was sensational and played a major part in our victory. Yet again it looked like something was going to happen every time he got the ball. He should surely be getting in this team every match, not warming the bench.
Thought we might lose at half time but we stepped up a gear in the second half. Not sure if we did anything different to stop Merson in the second half or perhaps he just tired.
The unsung heroes were Clarke (superb display of attacking left back football, fully deserves to be in ahead of Marcus Hall with displays like that), Russell (a brilliant effort and really seemed to take on extra responsibility in the absence of Eustace), Neal (some quality play, just needs a bit more body strength) and GNW (yet again).
Overall well satisfied, without a bit of character and the confidence from our recent run of results we could easily have lost that game. In the end had the chances to win 4-2 or 5-2, but fair play to Walsall it would not have been a travesty if it had ended 3-3.

Some good points there. TP is not only a better manager than some gave him credit for, but he also has slices of luck when he needs them.
Like the away game at Burnley, a forced substitution produced a better balanced side.
I am not going to argue - after games like Sheff U at home we were due a slice of luck. Made for a cracking game though, didn't it? ;D
