Faye isn't a big shouter so he can do his leading with his feet whether he's captain or not.
Wouldn't ever want to give the captain's armband to someone who's been here 5 minutes though so Abdy should keep it next year aswell for me.

It has been mentioned in fairness to him. That said I would be massively shocked if Abdy didn't get it and I'm pretty certain that the delay is more out of respect for Griffin (despite the apparent falling out TP is big on respect and I think he appreciates Griffs efforts) as Griff was never "stripped" of the captaincy as it isn't TP's way. The team spirit we have is fantastic and Abdy is now an integral part of that spirit.

what a fucking stupid question, are you mad! No But maybe our Tone is. He did recently say that he would hold back the arm band, that's why I asked the question. Faye for me every time.

Whitehead seems to be one of those who will lead with or without the armband, so it would seem rather futile to take the captaincy away from Abdy, who clearly has the respect of everyone he encounters.

You may aswell put 'Faye or Cresswell for Captaincy?' Not really the same. Cresswell has never captained in The Prem or been captain of a team like Sunderland for the last few years. I think a few people under estimate Whitehead as a player and a leader. Though having said that out of the two Faye for me.

With folk mentioning the team spirit, its nailed on for BT to have the armband.
Given this will not be the last signing and the fact there are a number of natural leaders in the team the armband and calling "heads or tails" is more a symbolic requirement of the captain I wouldn't get too hung up on the choice of captain.
Whitehead just like Faye will I'm sure demonstrate captaincy tenancity and leadership in the way he plays just like the majority of others who will pull on the red and white stripes (and black shirt away from home)

I cant see anyway that TP would over-look Faye as captain. He was our best player last season, led the team superbly and TP is well aware of the fact that he is a cult hero with the fans and there is no way he would give the armband to Whitehead IMO

Abdy, for the simple reason he was here last season and we know how inspirational he is. The way in which he picked up the useless Kitson at Wigan by the throat and then chucked him away like a rag doll is the sort of leadership you need. If any Stoke player doesn't perform on the pitch Abdy is the one to give them a nudge in the right direction. If a player comes in as player/coach, like Howard Kendall did, he doesn't have to become captain as well!

It will be Whitehead.
I think the team will be built around him, he's the work horse with a great attitude who gives 100% he is a Pulis wet dream. He will play a more flair midfielder next to him who will have more freedom to get up and do the creative side of things.
Either that or im talking utter rubbish.

I think it may well be out of respect for Griff that he's delayed it, I can't see Faye not carrying on with it after the job he did, but like Beardy said Abdy is a natural leader and doesn't need a stretchy band to make him heard
