Let's hope Salif has had a good rest and now works 'aaard to regain that lost yard of pace. Wanted way too much time on the ball, also. Could still be a useful player if the desire is still there...

a fit diao is a good addition as a squad player imo
seems from what tp says he has a good dressing room influence too (like matteo did?)

We were going to sign Scholes but the deal fell through so Pulis went to plan ‘B’ and signed Sal up to a new deal

Even if we got Diao to sign for a pitance it is just a complete waste of wages and money. He is nowhere near good enough for the Prem now and his sole role will be to come on and shore up the defence when we are in a winning position for the last 30 mins at most - surley someone else can do that. Baffling decision and probably not the first one we will have in the nexr few weeks.

Good to see Wilko getting a new deal. Salif on the other hand has something to prove the coming season...

Diao runs the dressing room for TP.
Any of you who run a large organisation know the importance of having your man on the shop floor.
Our excellent team spirit is down to Diao and Matteo.
This new contract is well worth the money for maintaining last year's ethos.

I sometimes wish we wouldn't dismiss our own players so cheaply even if they are past their best. Some posters seem to make no distinction between our own (heroes) and those from other clubs who are, rightfully, fair game. Pulis values every piece of the jigsaw and it's the collective spirit that saw us do so well last season. A bit of the same from us wouldn't be such a bad thing. There is, however, always one exception to every rule, in this case it's Pericard who was the piece missing, sucked off by the hoover...

I agree with ruts. Salif brings us more than just on the pitch stuff. Why do people think we have such a strong seneglese contingent? I hope he stays on and becomes a scout or coach in the future.

I can rest easy now understanding that the reason that we have not dipped our toes into the murkey waters of the transfer market, is because all of our commercial attention had been diverted to the task of resigning Diao.
Quite rightly so too, no-one else can do what Salif can do on a PL pitch with such consistancy.
