I'm trying to strip paint off doors,using a heat gun and although the paint is coming off easily enough it is leaving a grey residue that i can't get off? Advice please. ???

You probably need to have a second go but be careful, it's really easy to get burn marks on the wood. Won't a scraper or sanding move the grey stuff at all??

easy mate Im a furniture restorer, take doors off get em outside,go to pound shop and buy caustic soda & wallpaper paste,using cold water mix caustic soda in plastic bucket bout half full,then add paste,leave about minute then stir, brush onto door with dustpan brush leave for half an hour ish rinse and scrub hey presto lovely clean stripped pine door ENJOY !!!!
